Final cut is the latest and biggest update for Humidity and Temperature Overhaul and is a direct addition to the corresponding Final Cut update in Basic Needs. It also adds new mechanics, changes and fixes. Be sure to re-read the description, to be up to date with all of the new alterations, I hope you enjoy it!
Humidity and Temperature Overhaul
In the vanilla game rain or temperature in general dont have a big impact on Arthur, but now with this mod everything will change! The mod adds a new core that represents essentialy your "weather resistance", so that rain/snow/water/cold are an actual threat and not a minor inconvenience. Aside the core, the actual temperature is displayed (which works in both Celsius and Fahrenheit formats) to make it easier to track the current weather conditions, without having to constantly reveal the HUD.
The core with the temperature widget:
The new core
The outline represents how much protection against wetness and harsh temperatures you have, the more clothes the longer the outline bar is. This mechanic is reversed while in a hot place where intuitively less clothes is better.
The sign in the middle (either a sun or a snowflake) represent the current temperature conditions around you while taking your clothing into account.
A white sun is the base "you're dressed optimally for the current weather" value. A snowflake represents that you're cold and should get dressed in better clothing or seek shelter, while if it's too hot the sun will change to a different color (yellow, orange or red) to represent how severe the hot temperature is. The snowflake also changes color to indicate how cold it is compared to how you're dressed.
In the case of any kind of downfall (rain or snow) no matter how well dressed you are, the core will drain! Of course adequate clothing will drastically decrease the drain rate. Same applies to being in water (rivers, lakes, etc).
The Final Cut also ties in the core with the vanilla temperature mechanic, this is a big change as previously the modded core was prone to contradictions saying you're fine, while the vanilla health core was draining. This was because the type of clothing is taken into account in vanilla, but previously wasn't by the modded core. The Final Cut fixes that, meaning that in the colder regions, you dont just need some coat, but an actually warm coat.
Regenerating the core
To regain the outline you can go inside or generally seek a place to warm yourself. A fire, stove, campfires, etc all generate actual heat meaning you can even get too hot if you're too close! Resting by a campfire or sitting in the tent will fortify the core, locking it at 100% for an extended time.
In the Final Cut comes the possibility of switching clothes after being caught by bad weather. Previously if the atmospheric conditions became harsh and your core started to drain it was already useless to dress apropriately as your core was stuck at the value it started raining. Now you have the chance to change clothing once the bad weather starts (the core will regenerate according to new clothes you equiped, for ex if you were in a shirt and now you equiped a coat the core will jump-up by about 30%). Sort of like taking a non-wet outfit from the saddlebag. You can do it only once, to prevent the possibility of cheesing the mechanic by constantly switching outfits to avoid the core reaching zero.
if the "second chance" was used, an exclamation marker will be shown alongside the core
If the core drops to zero
All your cores will start to drain and if you set it on in the ini file, you can even start getting damage.
Final Cut Stuff
As with Basic Needs Final Cut, the core has been revamped in terms of visuals, making it actually resamble the vanilla cores in terms of looks. There is now also the option for the core to extend with the radar size, when clicking alt/down dpad or accessing the weapon wheel. It also includes fixes to the aligment of the temperature widget
