About this mod

This ReShade preset gives the game a more atmospheric look by adjusting color, brightness/contrast and adding ambient occlusion.

I picked up Rush Rally 3 on sale and was surprised at how much fun the game is. The controls, physics and overall content are really great for a one-man indie game that was apparently first developed for mobile gaming. I just thought the graphics could look better.

So I created this ReShade preset which uses a LUT and some finetuning to make the image a little less bright and contrasty, trying to conceal the relatively few details at the sides and in the background of the tracks. I then added some Ambient Occlusion for more depth by adding shadows at the objects and trees. Then I added smaa and some sharpening to round off the result.

To install it:
-Unzip and place the RushRallyReShade.ini in the mainfolder of your installed game:
The path should be like this: \steamlibrary\steamapps\common\Rush Rally 3

-Download ReShade from the official site: https://reshade.me/

-Run the ReShade Installer and select the game by browsing for the RushRally3.exe and select DirectX 11/12.
When it comes to selecting effects, select RushRallyReShade.ini at the bottom of the installer. This way the installer downloads only those effects used.

-Once you installed ReShade, start the game, press Pos1/Home to open the ReShade overlay and skip the tutorial.
The effects used should then show up and have a checked box in front of them.
You then can also hit the performance mode box at the bottom of that tab.

-If you map a key to toggle effects under the options tab, you can see the difference yourself. Press Pos1/Home again to close the ReShade Overlay.

(A known issue with the ambient occlusion is that it can also be seen in some menus where the car still appears to be in the background of the menu, so that you can then see the “shadows” of the car. Unfortunately, this cannot be solved, sorry.)
