Initial release
Fix controller vibration not working as it should with a simple tool using AutoHotkey script. Not needed anymore since game patch v1.06.
Silent Hill 2 (2024) has had a nasty bug with controllers that make vibration function not working as it should: it mysterioulsly always vanishes in the fog of Silent Hill at regular intervals for no valid reason...
As a workaround until Bloober Team decides finally decided to patch this issue (if they decide to do it they did it!), you can could regularly tap a keyboard key or use your mouse to magically wake your controller vibration function (typically when you are lost and watch your map for more than ten seconds), but it's it was less than convenient...
I made a little program with AutoHotkey that automatizes the process by pressing the Right Alt key (not used by default by the game) every 5 seconds to keep the controller vibration function awake do nothing useful anymore, so you don't have to think and do it yourself.
It has been tested with an Xbox controller and it works well, and should also work with a PlayStation one.
There are minor issues though:
Keyboard keys prompts appear every 5 seconds in menus/map/puzzles/interactions in place of controller ones (you can use some game menu options to mask some of them, for example display a dot in place of button name in interactions).
In cutscenes, a brief prompt to skip scene with space appear every 5 seconds, that could be distracting.
You must remember to close the program after quitting Silent Hill 2 to not let it mess with other programs you could use (you can also pause script by clicking right on its notification area icon). Should be fixed in v1.2.
How to use:
Don't, if your game is patched with v1.06 or more recent.
Simply launch the exe file, or the AutoHotkey script if you prefer, click OK and you're done.
To close it, use the Exit option by clicking right on the program notification area icon (the Suspend Hotkeys function does nothing, because there are not any hotkeys in my AutoHotkey script the Suspend Hotkeys function works now, and you can also pause/unpause the program with Alt-Shift while ingame since v1.2).
