About this mod
This mod TURNS Maria's hair, makeup and face shape back to its original 2001 Style as close as I could get it.
- Permissions and credits
- I have modelled the face to resemble The famous 90s Actor who was the inspiration behind the original Maria. Many Photo references were used as an outline to get the exact shape of her face in a front view and side views, though the actor it’s based on eyes is smaller than the 2001 cutscene model’s eyes so I went with the actors face and did the makeup like the 2001 model.
- This is my first custom model mod for this game. It is not perfect but I've spent many weeks on it and tested it in the majority of Maria's most iconic cutscenes. Was tested in Her First scene, Heavens Night, Moonlight Grove, Hospital bed, Jail and her hanging death scene. Due to limited save files i was only able to test those scenes.
- This games models hair does not come pre weight painted like other games in this engine which is causing me issues to get it to fall smoothly and naturally. From what I've learnt so far her hair cant be weight painted in the blender program which usually lets me weight paint hair in a lot more detail than unreal engine like this game uses for hair physics. And it only allows me to use bubbles as boundaries to tell the game where her hair can and cant go through, it doesn't actually use her head shape at all so i cant tell the hair to not go through her face, i can only use her head bubble and size it accordingly which after many tests has resulted in her hair looking better in some scenes and horrible and other scenes especially when she tilted her head, so i had to settle for an in between size so it looked ok in most of her cutscenes..
Known Issues
- Hair clipping into her face when head is tilted . Mostly in the Heavens Night cutscene, briefly in Moonlight Grove, Hospital bed scene
- Weird looking big smile when viewed on an angle in the Heavens Night cutscene. This is because there's no way to get motion capture to properly fit this newly modded face. Actor and Model have to match for best results.
- No Mary face change. Was planning on having Mary's face shape the same but for some reason whenever i tried to put her new face into the game all i see is a T pose static Mary
Updates
- If I figure out how or anyone who knows better can help me polish the known issues for this mod id greatly appreciate that, you would receive credit and we would be able to update this mod!
- If anyone has any issues that are not HAIR, FACE shape related, let me know what part of the game and send your save file so i can quickly get to that spot to take a look
