What is ResoRep?
Basically, ResoRep is a DirectX 11 DLL file that injects textures in .dds format from a specific folder into a game's process memory at runtime. This allows you to modify textures, give them the original file name, place them in the designated folder, and force the game to load them instead of the vanilla texture.
What games will this work for?:
Can theoretically work for any DirectX 11 API game. A list of games that have been confirmed to work (and not work) is linked below.
GAME COMPATIBILITY LIST
DISCLAIMER: I have not modified the ResoRep DLLs, so any pre-existing bugs in the mod may still be present. I cannot guarantee that it will work on your system for any given game.
Games with Full Vortex Support for ResoRep:
These games have ResoRep support fully integrated into the Vortex extension code for the best user experience.
- AC IV Black Flag
- AC Unity
- More AC games coming
Installation:
See the readme.txt file in each archive for install instructions. You can install with Vortex or manually. The goal of the installation is to place 3 files in the folder that contains the game's executable file:
- d3d11.dll - This is the ResoRep dll file that tells the game to use the modified textures instead of vanilla.
- ori_d3d11.dll - This is the system's DirectX 11 DLL file, which needs to be copied from the system folder at "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\d3d11.dll". ResoRep needs this file locally in the game folder to work.
- dllsettings.ini - This stores the settings for the ResoRep dll file. This file must be updated after installation with the game folder and executable file name (for any game not listed in the "Games with Full Vortex Support for ResoRep" above).
Vortex:
- Download the 32 or 64 bit version corresponding to your game with Vortex.
- If your game has "Full Vortex Support for ResoRep" as listed above, simply deploy mods in Vortex and you are done. The extension has written the dllsettings.ini file with correct values for you and will copy the ori_d3d11.dll file automatically on mod deployment.
- If your game is not in the list, open the Staging Folder by right clicking on this mod in the mod list and selecting "Open in File Manager".
- Run the "copy_d3d11dll_vortex.bat" script in the Staging Folder to copy the system ori_d3d11.dll file to the Staging Folder.
- If you are modding a game not in the "Full Support" list above, you need to download the optional dllsettings.ini file from this page. Open the file (in the Staging Folder or the game's folder) and change GAME_FOLDER and EXECUTABLE to match your game.
- Deploy mods in Vortex.
Manual:
- Download the 32 or 64 bit version corresponding with your game and unzip the archive.
- Run the "copy_d3d11dll_manual.bat" script to copy files to your game's folder (d3d11.dll, ori_d3d11.dll, dllsettings.ini). You will be asked to select the folder where the game is installed. Choose the folder where the game's executable is located.
- Open "dllsettings.ini" file in your game folder and change GAME_FOLDER and EXECUTABLE to match your game.
Why does this mod page exist?:
