EasyNPC is a tool for managing multiple (dozens, hundreds) sets of NPC overhauls in Skyrim Special Edition. It was primarily designed for Mod Organizer, but can be made to work equally well with Vortex using this extension.To use this extension:
- Download and install EasyNPC, but do not run it yet.
- Add EasyNPC.exe as an external tool in Vortex (Dashboard → "Add Tool", using the correct command-line arguments; you can leave everything else as default after choosing the target)
- Add this extension to Vortex.
Once installed, you will see a "Launch EasyNPC" button in the mod toolbar when you manage SSE:
Make sure you always use this button to launch the app. If you try to launch it directly from the Vortex dashboard instead, you'll see a warning, and some features will not work correctly if you ignore the warning.

Technical details: Because of how Vortex organizes its staging directory, by creating one subdirectory per file (rather than per mod, like Mod Organizer), EasyNPC requires additional information to understand the relationship between "mods" and "mod files". Launching EasyNPC with this extension ensures that it always has the most up-to-date information, so that face previews show up correctly, build checks don't report incorrect errors, and everything runs smoothly in general.
