Launch your game and disable vertical sync (V-Sync) in the settings menu. Then toggle frame generation.
This will result in screen tearing. To restore vertical sync and keep frame generation working properly, open Nvidia Control Panel, navigate to "Manage 3D settings", and then enable "Vertical sync" for your specific game.
Old framerate limiters don't work correctly. Check if they explicitly support frame generation first.
If you experience crashes while changing graphics settings in menus and are using an external overlay (RTSS, MSI Afterburner, Special-K, ReShade, etc...) try closing the overlay process first. Outdated versions don't support asynchronous frame generation.
This mod works on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. But please read below:
- DLL location: place the UNIVERSAL version at the following using the version.dll: Gamepass: <Drive Letter>\XboxGames\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\WinGDK Steam: <path to Steam folder>\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64
- Please disable any overlays (such as RTSS, Afterburner, etc.) to avoid potential crashes.
- If you have ghosting issues: in case anyone else experiences anything similar, Marp0son found a workaround. Use the console commands and change the FOV to 120-125 in 1st person mode (3rd isn't really a problem). Thanks to Marp0son for the workaround.
- Some users reported that the DLSS FrameGen option becomes unavailable after a while. Confirm that hardware acceleration for GPU is turned on in Windows, and Vsync is turned off in the game, as per the mod description. Then check again. If the issue persists, then it is a bug. There is no workaround currently. Please report the bug. Use FSR or disable the mod in the meantime.
Please note I am not working with this mod team. I am a user like you.
Thanks to everyone in the comment section who shared their experience.
While the game supports FSR FG, this mod might help to get better results for NVIDIA users. Use one or the other depending on your setup.
EDIT: Found it. Place the UNIVERSAL version here: <Drive Letter>\XboxGames\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\WinGDK (I used the version.dll one) Steam: <path to Steam folder>\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64 (Thanks @EduardHavron) The other version does not seem to work for me with this game.
Fugalism, can you please advise what exact version of universal packages you're using? Also, I can't seem to find that directory in steam version of the game :(
UPD: Seem to be working with winhttp Directory as follows: Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\Win64
Yea idk, not working for me as others report. Copied to same path, works in every other game. Oblivion crashes as soon as I select FG using version or winhttp dlls
I got it working in the Gamepass version by putting the UNIVERSAL dbghelp.dll in ~\Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Binaries\WinGDK
I don't have any overlays running. Closed MSI/Rivatuner, steam overlay is disabled. No matter what version I try, enabling FG will crash the game. Removing the mod fixes issue. I use this mod for almost every game, never had this issue.
EDIT: Fixed by going fullscreen as opposed to borderless, but Oblivion won't let me use my DSR resolution..
PeanutsCashew, even if the game supports FSR 3.1, I personally prefer using this mod because it forces NVIDIA Reflex — which helps improve input responsiveness.
The only case where I chose native FSR Frame Generation over this modded DLSS FG was in STALKER 2, as the game would freeze after a few minutes when using the mod. Other than that, I try to use it in every supported game.
PS: Could you update your original post with the latest findings? Also, please use the full name The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered — it will help others find your post more easily using the search function. Thanks!
anyone else getting crazy specific ghosting around edge of screen in oblivion remaster? specifically around the edges of weapons or items held in hand? the mod def gives me great frames but it comes with a really noticeable ghosting, i know some ghosting may be expected when dealing with dlss or fsr or FG but this is next level- just checking if im the only one, or if anyone else has had any luck reducing ghosting in past!
thanks for mod btw!
*EDIT - in case anyone else experiences anything similar - found a workaround (not great but noticeably better) - use the console commands and change the FOV im using something in the ballpark of 120-125 in 1st person mode (3rd isnt really a problem) but now when i have a weapon out it doesn't collide with the edge of the frame where the "issue area" is happening and therefor my Weapon doesn't ghost all over my screen anymore.
PeanutsCashew, thanks again for updating your post — I really appreciate it! That said, I’d like to kindly ask you to make one more small revision.
The reason is that the search function on Nexus highlights individual posts, not full threads. So if someone searches for help, your main post should ideally contain all the essential info.
Could you please edit it again and include: - The correct DLL placement paths for both Game Pass and Steam versions. - A note to disable any overlays (such as RTSS, Afterburner, etc.) to avoid potential crashes. - A mention of the ghosting fix shared by Marp0son.
Once again, thank you for your contributions — they’re genuinely helpful to the community!
Sadly none of the files worked for me on Steam. Game loads but crashes, sometimes in the loading screen or a few seconds into the gameplay. Removed the files and works fine.
Im getting my CPU loading on 100% when I replace the files to enable the frame generation and everything getting stuttered and CPU starting to throttle, what can be the problem?
Same here, it worked yesterday, now it shows as greyed out in the menu, set to "On", but it's definitely not working anymore, fps is much lower. No idea what happened to make it not work.
Worked almost great so far on RTX 3060 12GB with DLSS4 and REFLEX but unfortunately minor artifactings are still there near by both the weapons and edges of the character in 3rd person mode when moving the camera fast eventhough I've tried the shared FOV method however, it's generally seems to be ok anyway which is not a big deal.. In terms of performance wise, it's way much much smoother compared to in-game FSR3.0 FG (Probably they've used FSR3.0 here because only FSR3 Upscaler is available when FSR3 FG is selected, not with the decoupled DLSS+Reflex) but again even with Nukem's DLSS FG Enabler, game doesn't work silky smooth without enabling Motion Blur, so I play with Motion Blur ON with REFLEX ON/ON+BOOST options and feels good enough. I think the FG implementation is not the perfect in this game but holding up ok..
EDIT: Even if you disable the FG completely, game introduces the same related artifacts near the weapon and character so it's not the mod issue I mentioned about, so just enjoy the game and follow the further game updates other than that mod works perfectly fine enough.
I updated the post. Please note I do not work with this team, so please report bugs as you find them. Please share any workarounds and @ me so I can update the post. Thank you.
It's working for me every time, no issue. If you using legit game copy, it may use some sort of Safeguard, so game files would be automatically updated which means those files might be deleted in any auto-update. I'm using non-Denuvo version of the game, based on Steam release, tablet by CODEX/RUNE. Mod works every time stable and active.
Let the game loads all the shaders, it may take few minutes or seconds depending on your CPU & GPU processing speeds. If the CPU usage still keeps staying at %100 all the time we can believe that your CPU is weak for this game.
Oblivion Remastered: I've been using this mod nearly for every game that supports FG and it runs fine (solid work and thanks) but when i sneak in Oblivion Remastered the modded FG falls apart and only when i sneak, no issues when walking and running, also the FSR3 FG implementation of the game got no issues in this scenario. GPU: RTX 3060 12 GB CPU: 11600K RAM: 16 GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2666
You're not alone — and your hunch is actually right.
This mod uses AMD's FSR3 Frame Generation to emulate FG on unsupported GPUs. However, unlike native FG, FSR3-based FG needs a solid base framerate to feel smooth. If your base FPS is too low (say, under 40), even if frame generation brings it up visually, input and motion can still feel sluggish or uneven.
So yeah, it's not as "magical" as native DLSS3 FG — especially in demanding areas or on lower-end GPUs.
I see now, I thought that was me only. Although for this, I have found something like an alternative approach? I can use the version.dll to implement the fg be unlocked on some cases and will actually work better than the native dlssfg or the replacer in some games.
Most of the games that I tested over 75+ DLSS3 FG supported games work silky buttery smooth on my 1080p 144Hz display with a RTX 3060 12GB GPU so yeah it could be only you.
Btw, this mod (FG Enabler mostly) only worth using usually when getting over 95-100FPS+ or more with FG enabled, (there could be some exceptions depending on the game engine but it's like this most of the time), base line 55-60 FPS would be the minimum start point to feel the intended buttery smoothness. Native FG logic on RTX 40/50 series also works similar I believe.
no, what I'm basically saying is like, there are some games where the upscaling doesn't have the fg option or it's disabled. by using a file from the universal (depending on what's needed) I can activate the fg and it works similar to native fg from dlss (40series and above)
heraei, In your first post, you mentioned that the mod didn’t feel as smooth as native FG, but didn’t name the game — let’s call it Game X. Later, you said it worked perfectly in Wukong, which shows your system is clearly capable of handling the mod without issues.
That contrast led me to suspect that the lack of smoothness you described in Game X might be due to game-specific visual artifacts — possibly ghosting. Based on that, I guessed it could be Cyberpunk 2077, since this mod is known to introduce a ghosting effect on the edges of the screen in that game, which can make motion feel uneven or less fluid even at higher FPS.
So just to sum it up: this isn’t about the mod being broken — it’s likely that Game X has quirks when using FSR3-based FG with this mod, while other titles like Wukong don’t exhibit those issues. Totally normal for results to vary a bit depending on the game.
I'm not really using the dll for the dlssg to amd fsr3 fg mod, but instead, the unlocker to fg. Even before when I wasn't on a card capable of using native dlssg, the mod isn't as smooth, probably because of compatibility issues regarding the fg implementation. I have tried this also before on cyberpunk and while it does work, I did not go and play with it.
using it on wukong isn't as good as native fg, now while this is a problem, using the unlocker to actually accept fg to be turned on in some scaling options works better and similar to native dlssg
TLOU2 when using the game's default amd frame gen, the frame feels very choppy and not smooth when panning the camera, but when installing this mod with "universal," everything becomes really great, the experience when panning the camera is much smoother, tks
Steam version of Returnal doesn't seem to work, I've used every option from Universal, put the files in Returnal\Returnal\Binaries\Win64 it used to work before.
the setting for frame gen doesn't show up, I'm on a 3070.
I have tested that game on my RTX 3060 12GB in the last year with the version of 0.90/dll-Universal version of the mod. It was working perfectly stable and smooth.
Hello, I just cant figure it out why it wont work with cyberpunk 2077 ver 2,21 RTX 3070TI i tried it with the universal but nothing i have no idea what file i should rename and stuff can someone pls help me
Make sure you’re using the universal version of the mod and that it’s properly installed. For Cyberpunk 2077, the correct folder is:
Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64
Also, verify that you picked one of the supported DLL names (version.dll, winhttp.dll, or dbghelp.dll) and placed both dlssg_to_fsr3_amd_is_better.dll and the renamed file into that same folder.
As a reminder, the mod only supports GTX 16xx, RTX 20xx, and RTX 30xx GPUs. Your RTX 3050 is supported, so you should be good to go.
Just keep in mind that after certain game updates, the mod might stop working and may require a different DLL placement or an updated version to stay compatible. Sometimes, simply reapplying the files is enough — other times, you'll need to wait for the mod author to release a new update.
Also, note that the universal method is now the recommended one, as it's more compatible across various games and setups.
I believe I have forced this to work for Runescape Dragonwilds. I have tested the replicability of this method, I just know I have a 3080 and made frame gen work by roughly these steps. I followed the typical install method to the steamapps>common>RSDragonswilds>Plugins>StreamlineCore>Binaries>ThirdParty>Win64, ran the registry edit in the .zip, launched RSDW, enabled AMD FSR which allows the box for frame gen to be ticked, restarted the game, and then enabled DLSS Quality and it added roughly 40% to my frames, but without the ugliness that typically comes with FSR super resolution on Nvidia. Hopefully someone smarter than me figures this out better than I think I have.

Done.
Sorry I am not home so I did it on the phone and I am getting some trouble with the formatting.
But I did my best XD
Reinstalling it also won't let me re-enable it.
Shows that I had in enabled previous but it's greyed out again and nothing I do let's me turn it back on.

dlssg_to_fsr3.dll in the listed folder but it's not working, I still can't turn on FSR framegen with DLSS.
