COMPATIBILITY
Q: Compatibility with [Insert mod]
This does not change anything gameplay-related and many features from this mod are added to the game. This will be compatible with just about everything. You only need to worry about other blood mods.

Q: Wildcat - Combat of Skyrim
There is a minor conflict with Wildcat where it will make global setting changes like remove screen blood fade, make screen blood last longer, and decrease weapon blood fade that EBT uses. If you want those back you will need to load EBT after Wildcat.

Q: What if I only have one of the DLCs
Do not install any of the DLC patches if you only have one.

Q: Blood for custom weapons or armor doesn't appear correctly
How blood will appear on weapons and armor is determined by the model itself. It's up to the author of the mod to make sure that blood decals display correctly for their weapons and armor.

There is a blood layer that needs to be edited per weapon. The decals will appear to be floating if this layer isn’t done correctly. Bandit armor from Immersive Armors will have floating wounds.

Other armor and body clipping issues are also caused by the game and cannot be fixed

Q: Use with other blood mods?
No, it’s not compatible with other blood mods this includes bloodier combat. The exception is "bloody facials" mod. Make sure to do a clean save if you are switching between them. Expect your game to start crashing or possibly save game issues later down the line if you continue to use conflicting mods. Game stability when switching blood mods on the same save is not guaranteed.

Q: Solid Squares for blood / Bash patch issues and Larger Splatter Size plugin
-Avoid merging the plugin files or adding them to the bash patch. You need to make sure to check that the required fields are replaced correctly when merging
-Textures are not installed correctly

How to make it work thanks to: RPGXOmega

"After bashing load plugins before the Bash.

Go to TextureSet: DecalBloodSprayGround on "dD-Larger Splatter Size.esp"  copy the "Flags  (sorted)" "Alpha Blending" into Bashed using Tes5Edit  after Bashing then can ghost "dD-Larger Splatter Size.esp" and  "dD-Dragonborn-Dawnguard-EBT Patch.esp". Seems WyreBash just leaves the Flags empty during Bashing even if Graphics are marked."

Q: Blood is bright red/pink (Lighting Mods)
This is from using an ENB or a lighting mod that increases the game's overall brightness. Use darker optional file to "fix" this.

Q: LOOT reporting issues with Monster Mod
The errors reported by LOOT are outdated and should be Ignored

Q: LOOT reporting brawl bug included \ What's in the dD - Enhanced Blood Main.bsa file?

Those scripts are part of the brawl bug patch and are the latest version by Enai Siaion. You do not need to remove this file as it contains the same scripts.

KNOWN ISSUES / LIMITATIONS
Q: No wounds on my character in 3rd person view / Wounds doesn't appear
-You need to be attacked while in 3rd person camera mode
-NPCs have a certain chance to cause wounds to anyone and not all the time like the player
-A bug with Skyrim's wound system nothing can be done about it. This is all handled by the game, the mod cannon edit how wound is applied

Q: Other wound decal issues
Those are normal issues with wounds in the vanilla game:
-Wounds not appearing
-Stretched
-Clipping
-Not reacting to fog
-Dark wounds from multiple hits
-Blood not disappearing from hands/body

If you find that blood is lasting too long for you, then you can try lowering the wound lifetime in the MCM menu.

Q: No blood on heads or necks of playable races
Bethesda has always disabled decals appearing on the face and necks. The only way to do this is to apply a magic shader over the actor, which "bloody facials" mod does.

I have no plans on adding this to EBT due to the number of visual bugs with shaders trying to act like decals.

Use a mod like "bloody facials" or "Dirt and Blood"

Q: Hitch in combat / Freezes on first hits
Use lower resolution textures

The game does not load custom decals until they are needed such as when someone is hit or when you cast magic on the ground (deadly spell
impacts.) Depending on your computer setup there might be a minor freeze when you first attack someone after loading the save. Hitches should stop when textures are loaded. Installing your game on an SSD, using medium blood resolution, a higher VRAM card, or a faster CPU may reduce this issue.

Q: Mods that add new decals crash will the game on loading when uninstalled with one decal in the same area where the save was made
It's a game engine "bug" that was fixed in Fallout 4. (Most likely an intentional game debug crash by Bethesda)

Q: When using ENB white boxes appear around blood. (Weather / Lighting Mods)
This is an issue related to ENB please report them to the creator of ENB. A workaround is to disable the SSAO feature. Any mod that adds new decals will have this issue. (Deadly Spell Impacts / Footprints)

Q: Blood is sometimes transparent, faded. Sometimes hit splatters appear square or cut-off / Weapon flickers / No blood splatters in Solitude
These are normal issues with the game and they can't be fixed.

Things like rock paths along the roads are very noticeable. This problem happens with all decal types even from magic:

Q: Beheading guards with helmets don't work, or helmets stay on
It's a vanilla bug with that armor. Use open-faced guard helmet mods or mods that fix armor.

Q: Adding dynamic decal lifetime? Remove wounds and blood on weapons when entering the water
This can't be done due to the technical limitations of the game engine.

Q: Cheese wheels bleed when struck!?!?
This is a bug with the Unofficial Skyrim Patch. Please report this issue to them, this has been a problem for over years now

GENERAL
Q: Too much bloooood!
You have several ways to reduce this:
-Use the smaller blood splatter plugin. "Other Blood ESP tweaks" file or optional install in NMM.
-Use craftyfox's "Reduced Blood Splatter Alternative Textures" either alone or with the reduced blood size plugin
-Increase the severe blood damage to a higher number. Found in the MCM options.

Q: MCM options are all grayed out

Make sure you have a save where the mod and the menu is completely removed before you start reinstalling the mod

If you have the grey menu do the following:
-Uninstall the mod (just unticking the plugin file isn't enough)
-Load save
-Wait for about 10 seconds
-Check that the Mod menu is gone from MCM if not wait again
-Save that into a new slot
-Install the mod
-DONE

Q: Can I make a texture/decal replacer of your mod?
Feel free to do so and tell me about it so I can posts links to them here in the mod description.

Q: Textures are the same or don't appear / Blood pools doesn't work
-Set your decal amount to high or above in the Skyrim launcher options in graphics. (This is the most likely reason for blood pools not working)
-Using other blood mods alongside this mod
-Possible issue when switching between blood mods
-Did you get an EBT to install message when you started the game? If not then it could mean the plugin isn't active or the scripts are missing
-Not all surfaces can apply blood splatters, the same goes for magic. For example: Almost anywhere while in Solitude
-Multi-layered ground textures may cause blood and other decals to not appear
-You need to hit your target at least once with a melee/ranged weapon for blood pools to appear

To test if it’s not caused by a save or mod do the following.
-Uninstall the mod
-Check if the scripts folder contains files that start with zblood or zgore and delete them
-Delete dD - Enhanced Blood Main.bsa in the data folder if it exists
-Install the mod using only with the main plugin file active (no optional files) and disable all other mods
-Start the game and while in the main menu type in the console: coc whiterunorigin
-Attack npcs and see if it works
If not there might be an issue with the mod installation. Otherwise, it could be caused by an issue with that save or another mod.

Q: I’ve read somewhere that this mod is “known” to cause CTDs. [Very Old now]
These types of reports were common way before a mod increased the memory of the game called Skyrim Startup Memory Editor. Before this, games would crash when it reaches the game memory limit which isn't much, so crashes were common for those using a lot of mods. Check out this video by Gopher which demonstrates this issue. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37xAMUQc1oY) This shouldn't be an issue for script mods unless they are very badly made or you are pushing your game to the memory limit resulting in a crash.

Q: Crashing / Freezes
-Don't make ini edits to the papyrus and ugrids settings. Keep those at the default for the best stability!
-Use a mod that will increase the memory limit of the game
-Using other blood mods alongside this mod or when switching between blood mods.
-Check your paprus logs and see if a mod is consistently throwing errors. (this doesn't always mean its a bad thing)
-Try increasing the script update rate time inside MCM options.
-If all else fails, use the LITE version of the blood mod

To test if it’s not caused by a save or mod
-Start the game and while in the main menu type in the console: coc riverwood
-travel around, attack npcs, spawn enemies, boost your running speed by 1000 and run everywhere, ect.
-If you are not experiencing problems then something may have has gone wrong with your save
-If it still happens, try to remove groups of mods and see which one causes this problem

Q: Download issue when using NMM / Download Errors
Download the mod manually and then add the file to your mod list in NMM. This is an issue with the Nexus servers going down.

Q: Monster Mod patches work with MM Lore? (other variance of monster mod)
The patch only looks for keywords and races within monster mod esm, so it should work without problems. Monster Mod patch will work with v10 and up, and the new Reborn version.

Q: CTD when launching the game
-You have an active plugin that requires another file. Such as using the Dawnguard patch without Dawngaurd. Look at your load order with a mod organizer that checks for this error.

-You need the "Skyrim Immersive Creatures - DLC2.esp" from Immersive Creatures if you also have Dragonborn.

-Make sure you picked the correct version for your patches

Q: Can I use this mod to disable blood?
No. you'll make the game load additional files and have scripts running for no blood effects. When you do toggle that option in the MCM menu the scripts are still running and checking all npcs around you. Try using mods that are already existing on the Nexus. Search for No blood and you'll find them.

You can set the following ini settings to 0:
uMaxSkinDecals=0
uMaxDecals=0
fDecalLifetime=0

Q: What about Crimson Tide?
Crimson Tide uses a very old version of my scripts from 1.4 and never tried to contact me directly about using them. The creator pretty much just replaced the textures and called it a new original updated mod without giving proper credit.

The creator ended up abandoning it since they would also need my permission to use newer versions of my mod, and I assume they didn't know how to fix the problems on their own. Right now, it's in a very broken state where saves will be corrupted over time with consistent errors both in the plugin and in the scripts and making unneeded edits to the landscape. Why they never wanted to ask for my permission I would never know, but they made sure that the donation button worked even when the mod is broken.

If you want to make a texture replacer with that mod, feel free to upload one and I'll link to it. And to use their textures you need to move all the texture files out of their mod and have them overwrite mine. Not every decal will be replaced because it was using a very old version of EBT.
