About this image

My personal version of skyrim is part of the warhammer 40k setting, a steampunk/fantasy/sci fi mix of all genres. I loved the feeling of second edition, where more was possible in the setting and not so set in stone like now.

The world of Tamriel is part of a solar system, nearby a forgeworld and an xenos-artificial moon which is now populated by humans, at least on the surface. The inner structure is home to the last remnants of the Dwemer, who build it long ago and keep in hiding there today.

Tamriel itself is by old decree a recruiting ground of a spacemarine chapter wiped out long ago. But as the decree still stands, the world is untouched by other imperial forces and agents and was never recolonized.

The age of heroes was the time, when spacemarines in disguise walked the land, searching for able men to recruit and steering the population in the "right" direction concerning beliefs and culture.
Some imperial preachers made it to tamriel during the millenias, too. They introduced the cult of Talos to reform religion into something acceptable over the long run, so that it can easily be transformed into the cult around the godemperor when the time is right.

The turmoil during the reign of blood around the 36 millenium cut all these trys short and wiped the marine chapter protecting tamriel from the stars.

Now a more open minded element the imperial Inquisition uses tamriel to study human nature if left for themselfes on a world where the border between warp and reality is thin as can be, but stable enough to be no threat.

The elves are descendants of exodite eldar and left alone by the Inquisition for the study of xenos-human interaction if not influenced by the imperial cult and its xenophobia.
