About this image

If only people could run this. If EVERYONE could run this. Just look at the trees. They are fully detailed, anti-aliased, and compared to MSAA, they have a fully acurate reconstruction.
The Grass is awesome. The plants, look like plants in the distance.
LOOK AT THE WATER! Non-aliased reflections when the lod/distance begins to kick in.
At 9 fps its not playable on my 6850 oc 850mhz,1100mhz, i7 860 slight oc 3.17ghz, 8gb ddr3, etc. But it looks amazing. Even 4x is epic, pretty much near same (very very very minor difference). but thats 22fps on this rig. 2x looks great, but suffers some of the shortfalls of MSAA 2x with some basic aliasing. But at least the plants/trees are reconstructed and the water looks a bit better. Cant wait for SMAA T2x/S2x. That will bring Performance with this quality, or when AMD's adaptive AA is fixed, hate the popup textures, amplified meshes.
Wont list my mods, all 160 cant be listed here. Using RLWPP for more compatablity for this screen, normally use Realistic Colors and Nights. Skyrim how its meant to be played

7970's or crossfire could do it with a i7 2600k (or the Extreme edition if you feel like wasting money, but Skyrim is VERY cpu dependent, could actually gain a very large ton of fps?)
But I prefer Nividia (I like their driver support, better profiling, nividia inspector, more often/pointful updates, transparency AA) so I would recommend not going Amd like me -_- and get a next gen kepler card when they come out this year (Nvidia 700 series).
If you have already bought your pc, then enjoy and make the most of what you got. Wish I could do that, but I will not rest until next year approximatly I get me Nvidia Surround (not 3d), sli 790s or 3xsli 780s, ivybridge/haswell extreme edition cpu, 240gb ssd, 3tb harddrive, 64gb/32gb ram. THATS THE GOAL!

does make you wonder what you are going to need to totally max Skyrim out while still at a playable rate... still pondering my new pc and nothing yet suggests it will do it..

I have a comparison with 8xmsaa vs 8xssaa with it half half, differences, etc, not sure if I can change this image or if I even should and just make it a new one.

I added Smaa (ultra), and personally it adds another layer of blur, in the loading screen for example, objects 'flicker'. I use that lightly, not like a texture flicker, more like a shimmer actually. Happens with plants too. I really cant wait for a more powerful smaa version, looks like the ultimate peformance/quality aa.

Also, have I got actually performance issues? I made all my mods Medium Res, made my shadows High/Medium (blured alot), only ugrids 7, Normally play at Msaa 4x with the RCRN mod at 40-45 fps. SSAA 4x craps my system to 20-22fps. 2x does 27-30fps. Msaa 4x+smaa ultra drops me to 30-35 fps!!!!(wtf). 8x Msaa is like a mid between 20-30 fps. Ultra shadows is like SSAA 4x. High mods add alot of stutter. I dont have the best of best ini tweaks, just the essentials.

I run bf3 on high at 40 fps, (i normally use smaa instead of fxaa at 30-35fps). Witcher 2 at 30 fps on ultra with no ubersample. Shogun 2 is 16-20 fps on ultra with anything BUT Mlaa/noaa (they are 20fps). Crysis 2 is about 30-35 fps on extreme. (all mmos at 60fps on ultra max, lol lotro lod sucks so much)

Meh i can run any ENB series mod and then some, plus added aa like 32x scaa2x sli and so on. Although i tend to use the enb tool though to tweak it myself.

but there is one Enb mod that stands out from the rest is this one

    http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5458

Note supersample is better then csaa.

    Also nice screenshot (:

Nice screen grab (from technical point of view)

I get playable frame rates on 6950 at 4xSSAA with an FXAA mod, FPS is always above 40 most of the time unless CPU related bottleneck kicks in.

    AMD:-
.2XSSAA is bad*, picture output is drastically different from intended geometry or texture details.
.4xSSAA is sweet spot, excellent quality and playability.
.8xSSAA causes you to loose some details, picture is smooth with excellent geometry but there is no point if texture details are lost and the game runs slow around 10's or 15's or in 20's of FPS.

Anyone who has a card starting from
AMD: 58xx, 68xx, 69xx and onwards can play in 4xSSAA easily.
    Nvidia: GTX 460, 470, 480, 560, 570, 580 can all play in 2x2SSAA easily.

    -Edit-

Too much of geometrical perfection can be a bit of cliche too, check the rock/cliff on the left side of the screen.

But SSAA is good, it removes aliasing which cannot be removed with any other type of AA.
Example: Zoom onto a sword in your inventory, look at the location where there is reflection of the swords blade_edge..on SSAA it looks perfect.

Best is to combine 4xSSAA with an ultra preset SMAA hook.
