About this image

Adding sea ice in the Sea of Ghosts as part of DSLR and Winterhold Redux and I want peoples opinion on it. Does it look bad? Do you like it? What do you think about a snow shader applied to the top of the ice?

Its going to cover about half the north coast of Skyrim from just East of Dawnstar to the River Yorgrim channel, so before I continue working on it I'd like peoples opinions on whether I should continue in this style or do something else. Looking forward to comments!

I think you should continue; we don't have enough long stretches of ice in the colder areas of the game. I support this move wholeheartedly

it looks good IMO. I would be careful not to extend it too much.. lots of islands around that area and extending it too much might 'merge' them.

that's sort of the idea. The islands themselves are getting a bit of a makeover as well so that it all flows together.

Given the shallow depth, the close grouping of islands, and the supposed "barely livable frozen wasteland climate" that Winterhold is supposed to have I thought a permanent layer of sea ice was a cool idea. There will still be access points to the water via cracks and holes in the ice so no need to worry about that. You'll probably just need to brew up some waterbreathing potions before you head under if you plan on venturing very far from your entry point.
