I haven't started to use DOF yet, Rick, so I'm very interested to see your image here...it's very nicely done, concentrating on the pommel of Irileth's sword, but interacting perfectly with the out-of-focus background.
Using DOF to create a scene is a lot of fun, because you have to considder the background too, even if it's faded out. At least this is when I find the use of DOF most appealing - when the effect interacts with a scene...
I like experimenting with shots like this. They are still something I need a lot more practice in, but it's very cool to see the different effects depending on where you stand with the camera in the room. I do have lots of work to do with these shots, but I enjoy the time making them, so I'm all game...
