Just can't stay away lol. Textures still need a lot of work but they are from maps generated in Zbrush... So they're kinda crap. Any who, constructive criticism is most welcome :)
Oh! Suggestions on names for this set would be very helpful. I can't think of a good name.
It looks like something a royal guard of a fantasy Norse king would wear. Or the brutish fellow who steps off the northern sea raiders' ship and has to be killed by the main character before he gets to his final duel with the antagonist. The brutish fellow loses of course. They always do (which makes me wonder how they're supposed to be intimidating at all...?).
I agree with liemertha. The crossguard and pommel could use a little resizing. The contrast in the color pattern is nice, I like where you've put the gold. As you said, the texture itself could use work, but the pattern at present is rather appealing. I think it could work with a dark blue and a clean steel look, especially with a dark blue cape, if the gold is just a placeholder.
You could consider adding a mail facemask option with the helmet. Not necessary of course, but it might work with this particular set. Not a complete mask, just one that covers the mouth. Would be curious to see how that looks.
Just a few easy, generic names off the top of my head that come to mind that have a sort of northern knightly feel to them:
Ironfrost Set Coldheart Plate
Slightly less generic, but still kind of general:
Northern Scourge Armor Palewind Coldplate Steel Dragon Set Darkmoon Honorguard Set Arnlaug Armor Torgeir Set Mournharrow Armor Stonebreaker Platemail
I hope that's enough to get your gears going for a name. Maybe something will pop up in your head that works. There are some good Norse names you can use for inspiration for this, too. Good luck, thanks for all the hard work!
Wow! Those are really good suggestions I actually just got Quixel 2.0 and have been learning how to use it. I should have a visual update soon. Thank you for the great reply. I really like "Palewind Coldplate" and "Mournharrow Armor".
Hey, sorry for the late reply, just got to see this! I'm really glad I could help, your work looks fantastic and I hope it turns out well for you! Good luck!
This's friggin awesome, wow! For the record, it's not crap, no. In my opinion this could already be a mostly finished product, and I say mostly because while the suit is good, the sword seems a little iffy.
Like, the textures contrast with that of the armor overall. I would say, change out those bumpy, dull textures for the chromatic and smooth textures of the armor in its place.
The horns on the helmet seem a'little too bright, could tone that down some as-well.
I agree, the sword needs some TLC. I will play with the textures and see if I can smooth them out for the final model. The horns are to bright, I know It is because of my light setup in Marmoset, (it was a quick one) but that will be fixed too.
