About this image

So, I was mucking around with uGrids. Normally I run 7 and get 58fps all day everywhere, (1080), so I tried some more. uGrids 9 - looked fantastic mostly 50+ fps, some 40's. uGrids 11 - amazing. If you look at the shot, uGrids 5 puts a line in the water at that first island. 11, I want to say I can see Hert's reflection in the water on the other side of the lake (it may just be a grease mark on the monitor tho) - avg 35fps. So is it worth 20fps? I know I am a bit spoilt, but you "learn to spend what is in your pocket" as they say. I am so used to a rock solid 58fps .... idk. Pretty great tho.

    The only time I would recommend doing higher than UGRIDS 9 is when you are planning on remodding Skyrim and do not care about your framerate or if it starts to seriously bug out.

    That being said, it does look pretty amazing!

    I'm doing UGRIDS 9 in 2160p:

    uExterior Cell Buffer=100
    uGridsToLoad=9

      uExterior Cell Buffer. I know STEP says (ugrids+1) squared, which is what you have done. I tried to push mine up. 144 had me getting ILS, not all the time, but.. I spent too many years fighting unstable installs, pretending some magic tweak would fix things. Now I change one thing at a time. If ILS or CTD start showing up, I change it back and move on. (we won't bother spending time with what happened when I tried ugrids 15 and 256 uexteriorCellBuffer, save to say it was too much). Then I thought about it. The point of the cell buffer is to prevent stuff popping into view as you move from one cell to another. This is an issue when you are on ugrids 5. But at ugrids 11, the cells furthest away are sooo far away, I don't see any popping with the default 36, so I just left it there. Also I made the biggest LODS DYNdolod would let me. (ty Sheeson, I bet your poo doesn't stink) They are pretty nice LODS and at the furthest view distance, I struggle to determine if I am looking at LOD or model.

      oh. And I guess I should admit. I did drop it back to ugrids 9. II was impressive, but I like to play the game. I don't like being aware of fps. FPS issues are for other guys.

    Every time I return to this spot with new tweaks and settings it always manages to blow my mind somehow. Likewise in your capture as well.

    Cheers!

    Oh yes! You proofed it, Skyrim 2011 vintage can still look great
    Although I am too frightend to g beyond the default ugrids. I've read too much things about demons coming out of the screen and eating children, pets and cookies..... nononono I am too frightend to do that.
    But it still looks great!

      See, I went looking for the demons. I read the stories too. They all kind of start with "my friend told my sister that one time ...." So I asked around some more. One of the more knowledgable mod authors on LL had this to say - "No, and the only sort of things this will set off is conflicts between groups of npc's who are triggered to act when loaded. Nearly all quests are triggered either by you entering a triggerbox or a location (which can vary in size) or by interacting with npc's. If anyone has a horror story then I would like to hear specifics of what happened because all I hear is 'don't do it, it causes problems'. "ty Veladarius.

      So it means you probably won't get to that giant in time to give it what for, and Aela will tell you off for not helping ... I will try to survive her withering gaze .... apart from that, I am guessing the 'demons' are actually peoples way of not saying "I didn't have the VRAM to do it". Not sure it was possible at all till those nice men at Windows gave us the Fall Creators update and we got to use all the VRAM we had available.

    You see Hert's reflection? You must be wrong. They are Vampires, you know?

    Great picture in beautiful colours.
