Lovely image with a most beautiful poetic tribute.
Well done!!
(I have finally succumed to using that joke. I feel much better now thank you, lols.)
It's a lovely image too when simplicity really makes everything work! Sunrays, pose of the character (or more where she's placed in the image) and some fine looking colourful grass. Add something interesting in the horizon and BAAM, you got yourself a very beautiful and inviting image!
It's a lovely poem too! I really like the style of it, being both poetical, descriptive and melancholic, with an explanation of what life means in the cold north where summers are short. I love how it connects with Skyrim, because such verses and lyrics are dear to me. It's "fantasy poetry" in lack of a better term for it, and funny thing is, I've written plenty of such snippets to describe cultures, history and geography of my worldspace (just like Tolkien did). The very last sentence completes the poem perfectly...and it's an adorable flirt with "Winter is coming" too!
Thank you for the lovely comment on the poem especially, that was fun to write. And busted, lols; I was aware of the correlation as I wrote it and trying not to go there so much (Winter is Coming), but it was certainly asserting itself from within my psyche and I think the poem would have suffered without both it's assertion and influence perhaps. I grew up in the San Fransisco bay area and I can count the times it snowed there on one finger (though I do live farther north and in a much higher elevation now). So most of my inspiration for a real winter has come from others descriptions, authors such as Tolikien (my favorite author still) and Martin, and Skyrim itself of course. That and my idea from the start was to portray the ending of the event (and so the ending of summer) since that's where I found myself.
Looking forward to reading some of your verses in the near future hopefully too. ^-^
But what matters most is heart, and I don't see anything stopping you there either. ^-^
Pillar of the storm
Into the nothingness
Illuminate me
Skeleton throne
A barred world
Three kings
Remember me
The mill
And yea, I still have to listen to more of their songs, I actually just discovered them too. It was a total random search that lead me to them, lols.
Luck was may have been more involved than normal that day, lols.
Really well done.
