That answered my question from the last segment. The portal closed too fast for Nelthas to get to Sofie.
This is a perfect picture of near despair mixed with forced inaction. Exaactly how a parent can feel when their child may be in trouble.
So, the Thalmor have disappeared? A little bit of comedy about their situation and, for the reader, a bit of the feeling that they got what they deserved.

Thank you very much for your detailed and wonderful comment! Yes, the portal closed up too fast for Nelthas to reach Sofie so he had to go back to Dannee to report about what had happened with Sofie.
I am very glad that you've liked this picture! I tried to convey Dannee’s parent fear over the uncertain fate of her child.
Thalmor got what deserved, for given how low they sank, the sewers is fitting place for them.

Beautiful chapter,I really like seeing how Dannee would do anything to protect her loved ones! ))) Nelthas reminds me of myself, the way he responds to emotions is just like mine. I feel sorry for him, since now Sofie is missing... hope he and Dannee will catch the blasted Thalmor and destroy them all. They do not deserve mercy.

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback! Yes, Dannee is a very protective of her loved ones, she is like ultimate mother dragon. I felt sorry for Nelthas too, his belovd Sofie went missing and he couldn't do anything to help her at that time. And eventually Thalmor will get a payback!

Oh this was so good - the whole scene in the sewers with Elenwen. That mage and his call of nature and her freaking out. The straw, the attitude, all of them cowering like rats when the cat is on the hunt. It was all very well written and added a nice lighter touch to the whole story. I found it both amusing and fitting. You are making me like Ondolemar against my better wishes lol. I remember he almost "died" in Grim's story when Fenrir was finally freed from his bondage but after we chatted I had him survive so our cross-overs would be better in tune and glad I did as he works well in your world as a more rational Thalmor.

I agree with the rest, Dannee is a scary Dragonborn but also a good reminder that she is very powerful in her own right. She isn't anyone to mess around with casually. You better be ready for war if you harm her family. I also felt bad for Nelthas. Just not used to dealing with all this emotion after keeping everyone at a distance. Now that he has let someone in like Sofie I think it over-whelms him. Still in a way a good sign as it shows he has let people in. As Dannee mentions later (jumping ahead in story here) it isn't a weakness to care for others. Yes you can be manipulated but you also have support and strength as a family, or as Grim would say, as a pack.

Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback! The whole hiding in the sewers was not Thalmor finest hour. Elenwen was very, very unhappy and if she was more rational one she would never started the whole plan of capturing Sofie, but she couldn’t hold herself. Ondolemar is supposed to be the most rational of Thalmor, besides given his lines in game, he was never a fanatical follower of Thalmor. I am glad that he did not die in Grim’s story when Fenrir was freed and there was a time of winter in whole Skyrim.

Yes, Dannee can be very dangerous when enraged and Thalmor did great job of enraging her. I feel sorry for Nelthas too, this emotional stuff is very new to him, because he used to be introverted and closed for many years, so his feelings for Sofie often overwhelm him. Dannee can be wise and she is ready to support Nelthas, she feels sorry when she hears how he calls himself expendable. I think family or pack can give true strength, but thankfully for Dannee and Grim Thalmor are very divided filled up with their ambitions and selfishness.

It does show that Nelthas isn't exactly good at dealing with overwhelming emotions like this, becoming rather distant while he's trying to make sense of it all. Its probably even worse since it's Sofie that disappeared and he felt like he failed her by not getting to her in time. Poor man, as good at his trade as he may be, he's not an omniscient god either. He couldn't have known that the rug was a portal. He's already blaming himself pretty hard over the situation, its good that Dannee managed to remain calm and not blame him for it. She understand it wasn't his fault. Angry Dannee is a very scary thing, but I understand where than anger comes from. For her to even consider going to see Mora willingly as an option, it speaks volume. I felt rather sad at the conversation between Dannee and Nelthas when they were at the Embassy. He's just as determined as Dannee in finding Sofie but the way he sees himself as expendable is a bit heartbreaking. I'm just glad Dannee was able to tell him that there are alot more people that care about him than he realizes...though I still highly suspect that something happening to Sofie would be just as devastating to him as it would to Dannee.

Thalmor and Thalmorette...This is why you do not mess with the Dragonborn. Why you do not anger a mama dragon. Because you end up having to live in the sewers like a bunch of dirty skeevers. The scene was absolutely hilarious..and they do deserve it. I'm not sure which one is the most bratty in the lot, Elenwen or the young mages. I'm more incline to say Elenwen. Ondolemar sounds more like he's the only Thalmor with some brain. They wouldn't be in this...situation...had it been from him but sadly, Elenwen had to be the one in charge. Well this is more Sehilanne's doing but she left and is letting them take the blame for all this mess...although I wouldn't be surprised if Elenwen would claim credit over this disaster of a plan. Not like it would be hard to pin it all on her.

    Nicely done !

Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback! For Nelthas to see Sofie disappear like this was incredibly hard blow, besides there was a ton of emotions he had to deal with and it sure was not easy. Nelthas sure is not some deity to know everything but he still felt like he somehow failed Sofie and even Dannee because he promised her to watch over Sofie and keep her safe. Thankfully Dannee did not blame him, she knows it was not his fault. Dannee cam be scary and yes, if they did not find Sofie or she would not have escaped, Dannee would have seriously considered going to Mora for the information. Yes, Nelthas did not care much for himself here, he thinks he is more expendable than Dannee and Serana but he is wrong and thankfully Dannee reassured him in that. Yes, if something bad happens to Sofie he will be as devastated as Dannee.

Yes, Thalmor and Thalmorette got what they deserved! Dannee would be rolling on the floor with laughter if she will discover where they are hiding! I am glad that it was hilarious scene. Ondolemar probably feels himself like old and underappreciated dad with a bunch of bratty teenagers running around and bickering with each other. The finniest thing was that Elenwen despite her age was the worst of them all. Sehilanne is very intelligent and calculative, she knew that such thing ca happen so she let Elenwen take all the blame. And if by some miracle Elenwen succeeded then Sehilanne would have taken the credit, so it is win and win situation for her.
      Thank you very much again!

Terrific chapter, Nataly. The Thalmor in the sewers are not at their finest--well, except for Ondolemar.

Furious Dannee is really a scary thing, as well noted by Nelthas. But fortunately she regained her calm and focus and didn't let the group get disunited. By contrast, the idiots Thalmor just fight, which shows how superior Ondolemar is to Elenwen, who looks like a spoiled brat kicking in the supermarket.
Looking forward to the next part, today I read Jon's part about Sofie and Wulver and your work together is excellent!

Thank you very much for your kind words and detailed comment! Yes, angry Dannee can be scary, but she can control her emotions, so she did not let her rage or sorrow get in a way. Yeah, the Thalmor are idiots, but the newest recruits are bratty and arrogant young mages and Elenwen is emotionally unstable. Ondolemar probably cursed the day he decided to join the Thalmor while watching this kind of performance from his colleagues. Thank you very much again!
