Already doing some stuff for the next theme, maybe I'll even post before the last day this time!
I'm going to admit at once, I've never been very knowledgeable in regards on the TES lore. I find it interesting, although I haven't went very deep within it, even if I've been playing the games since Morrowind. That's one of the reasons I've decided to make the Dwemer culture a classic Dwarf race inheritance in my worldspace, but also for the fact it connects better with my characters and my writing (since dwarves do exist in my realm).
Seeing this marvellous collection of ultra cool shots therefor gives me a better understanding about what the TES Dwemer is all about. I consciously allowed Dwemers to be true Dwarves because of my own love for this classic fantasy race, but to behold your Dwemer glory - as it's meant to be - with bits of futurism, horror, superior understanding and star-gazing greed is just fantastic!
Truly thank you for this extraordinary contribution!
A proper Dwarf race -is- a strange omission, especially considering how heavily they borrow from everything else Tolkien. Everyone on the continent (except humans, who are migrants) is related to an original Elven ancestor race called Aldmer. The High Elves/Altmer are the closest descendants, but even Orcs are related..
Now in the limited stuff Bethesda has on them, Dwemer do seem to be on the shorter side, probably more similar to Wood Elves, whereas I made them taller, but I think they're still supposed to have pretty lithe builds.
On the plus side, perhaps it's better there isn't a canon Dwarf race, cos then I would've had to do a Mines of Moria thing, with goblins crawling on pillars and everything, and that would've been a nightmare
I much prefer Nordic ruins but it's great to have the variety of differing dungeons in the game !
Maybe the return of the Dwemer will feature in a future Elder Scrolls game, as the dragons re-emerged in Skyrim ?
I have no idea what Bethesda is planning for TES6, my guess is they probably won't be doing that, because Dwemer lore is pretty non-traditional for fantasy and it's one thing for it to be on the fringes and another to make it the focus. I think it would be interesting, but it sounds risky, especially considering Bethesda's recent troubles, I'd think they prefer to play it safe
Thank you for sharing.
There's a lot of contradiction around what happened to the Dwemer and also about what happened during the battle in which they disappeared. Apparently there was an event known as a "Dragon Break" at the time, which is some kind of weird phenomenon where time becomes non-linear and multiple realities converge, it's not something I really got my head around though. I took shiny screenshots and thought of the other stuff after the fact \o/
This collection to the theme is absolutely fantastic. Your ideas about the dwemer and their fate are so deep and your pictures, especially in the last part are never seen ... is it from a mod ?
This is an outstanding work. Thanks for sharing
Correct, pretty much everything is from one mod or another. The pictures of the battle are from Dwemertech - Magic of the Dwarves, where the Dwemer have a moon base on Messer. Other stuff is from Project AHO and Wheels of Lull as well as a few other assorted things.
Check out the 3 extra pictures I totally forgot to add (since I took them earlier than the rest), they're at the bottom now \o/
