Neat! That would be an easy way to do it as well! I just made my own .bat file to make anyone into a follower with one command. Sapphire disappears a lot during the thieves guild questline though as she is needed by some scripts. It's kind of immersive as it makes her have a life other than just following all the time.

I had her as a follower for one of my characters (via console command) and it was nice to have a bit of attitude following me around
I use npc visual transfer tool to give her aspect to other follower...
