About this image

I don't know if this "fix" exists somewhere already, so I'm just posting how to do it yourself! It's a very basic mesh edit, but since everyone uses different retextures it can't really be uploaded as a quick fix anyway.

This lovely farmhouse wall retexture adds dry leaves and vines all over the outside, but is also shared by the fireplace inside! As aesthetically pleasing as it is, I couldn't get over how unsafe it was... SO:

  • Find yourself a copy of Meshes\architecture\farmhouse\interior\farmintwooddoorway01.nif either from a mesh replacing mod or by unpacking your "Skyrim - Meshes.bsa" yourself with BSAOpt or BAE.
  • Open that mesh in Nifskope and click on the fireplace (zoom out and rotate the camera if you can't see it)
  • Click the > arrows to expand NiTriShape and BSLightingShaderProperty
  • Click on BSShaderTextureSet, then expand the Textures > in the Block Details section
  • Change that texture path to whatever texture you prefer! (for me it was a stonewall in Solitude)
  • Save your changes and go check it out in game!

REPEAT for any other offending meshes!
There are other fireplaces that need fixing, forges, and anything else you run across that references the default farmhouse wall texture.
You may want to edit ALL of the meshes in farmhouse->interior... after all, who lets vines grow on the inside of their house?!
