As for Hulda, she disappeared from my game several years ago, I don't know why and I could never get her back. Ysolda never took over the running of the inn, which I understand is supposed to happen if Hulda is killed, so I assume she's not marked as dead in the game.
It's not a big deal, because Orgnar in the Sleeping Giant at Riverwood can still give out the Whiterun tasks and adventures, but not being able to get a room at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun is a bit of a pain.
Anyhow, never mind that...I enjoyed your story and the images
Sold by Belethor ? I assume... :D
On a more serious note
With the console command (help "Hulda") you could get her ID and teleport her to you (there is a console command for it).
Edit: According to UESP, Ysolda had a bug that prevented her properly taking over the Bannered Mare, which USLEEP fixed... so that Ysolda takes over Belethor's store if he dies, and Mikael takes over the Bannered Mare if Hulda dies.
About the console command...
To see if Hulda is dead (if you are not sure) do these commands in the console:
To point the console at Hulda (using her RefID of 0001A66E) since you can't click on her, you do a prid (Pick reference by ID) instead - using her RefID:
prid 0001A66E
To see if she is disabled and/or dead (after doing the prid) - if both commands return 0, she is alive but lost somewhere (disabled or dead will return a 1)
GetDisabled
GetDead
To move the NPC to the player, use the MoveTo command while still pointing at the NPC:
MoveTo Player
OR if you want to see where she is (for testing only in case she is in a place or coffin that could get you killed) you could do this:
Player.MoveTo 0001A66E
Please note - these are the theoretical commands... I have used them often for testing... but did not test them today so I hope I did not have any typos! Use at your own risk! I will check for a few days to see if either of you reply.
PS. Sold by Belethor comment made me laugh!
I have found out lately how to make non shitty tfc/TFC 1 screenshots as Vampire Lord: TSCR (Toggle script processing).
It has bugged me for years but finally i found the solution here on Nexus.
*Edit
Hi CMH,
I carried out your instructions, and my default Hulda shows up as "disabled" but not "dead". However, I also see that her prid shows up as 0001A66E[D] and I see that means she has been deleted. The only way I could delete her would be through the Creation Kit, but there is no way I would consciously select the "delete" option for any default npc.
It rather looks like she's gone bye-bye from my whole game and I'm going to have to continue to get my Whiterun tasks from Orgnar in Riverwood, or Mralki in Rorikstead.
It should be possible to enable her again.
So I can imagine a user maybe doing a MarkForDelete in that situation... just to try anything... and I am not sure if that would work or not. The point is, that if a user did that, and nothing changed visually, they might not realize what had happened. If like me you never use MarkForDelete, than that can be removed from possilble explanations.
This is curious to me, in part because I don't remember Hulda ever leaving the Bannered Mare, so unless the player killed her directly or a fight broke out inside the Mare and she was collateral damage, I am not sure how she would die - and I know for you she is not dead. But I also can't really imagine needing to disable OR MarkForDelete anything in the BanneredMare that might lead to an accidental delete on Hulda.
I am also curious if during a test only, you tried moving your player to Hulda's location, and where you ended up. I am guessing it would be behind the counter in the Mare, but you never know. And unless you are a complete geek like me - it is probably not worth bothering to check that.
Anyway - in your situation I would most likely not try to fix this. NPCs that are involved with quests have way more potential for problems if you try to tweak them, as I am sure you know, because of other quests, quest scripts, conditions, etc., etc.
Hmm... Not for your specifically, but I went into TES5Edit and see that Hulda's ACHR (the RefID record that places Hulda in game) has a "Linked Reference" to a patrol marker outside of the Mare. And she has dialogue records where she says "I'll get back to the Bannered Mare soon enough. Just need to stretch my legs a bit..." and "I'm just out and about, love. The Bannered Mare can do without me for a bit, I suspect." - so it appears that maybe she CAN leave the Mare at times. It isn't in her default AI packages defined in her NPC record, but Quests also have added AI packages too. So my guess is it would be during some quest related events, that I just never saw or noticed.
So interesting!! But, even I am not a big enough geek to investigate all of her related quests... unless you really want me too!
Edit: Hulda's UESP page I mentioned earlier also shows some of her dialogue lines - including the ones she can say outside of the Bannered Mare. Haha... of course I found them in TES5Edit before noticing that. I am what I am...
I'll just bash on with things as they are, my problem is taking over your comments section, so I'll call it a day, many thanks.
I did think of trying to create a "sister" for Hulda by creating a complete new npc in the Creation Kit and assigning all of Hulda's template data (Traits, Stats, Scripts, Factions, etc) to the new girl, but I'm pretty certain it won't work, but don't ask me why because I would wonder what is the point of being able to assign the template data of a given actor to another actor in the creation kit?...I might give it a go though, just for the hell of it.
However, the time is looming when I will need to get a new PC and I'll switch over to Windows 11 and thence to Skyrim SE (if Win11 will run it). so I'm not particularly concerned enough to go chasing Hulda just for the sake of it.
Thanks again to both you and Tish for your efforts.
Les - no worries, my friend! As for going to SE... NO!!!!
Thanks to both of you for this interesting discussion! It was fun!
PS. This is Alex now... please forgive cmh for his long ramblings. Hahaha, I swear to you he does NOT do that when we are out exploring! Although he does often stop to tell me he loves me, and to get a quick hug before we move on. And as I often say to him when that happens... that is just perfect!
@Alex: He's passionated for what he' s doing thats good.
I think the first few images might not be correct? The text in the story mentions them taking a cart, but they are walking in the snow? Or maybe I did not understand something? After reading it again, I was just confused. The first 3 images in the snow were before they got to Windhelm, and from there they took the cart to Whiterun. I just didn't see any images of them in the cart... and got confused. BUT... haha... that totally makes sense because using a cart is basically an immersive fast travel, after all! That and the fee, of course! Sorry for my confusion!
I think I am so used to the realism of your stories and images, that I simply forgot that the game does not show us the actual cart ride!
Sorry for the confusion, and again - great set!
