About this mod
Replaces the vanilla Skyrim dogs with Dawnguard huskies.
No esp needed, just replaces the default dog mesh with dawnguard one. Sound files are left unchanged.

Thank you very much for the open permissions on porting!
There is also an alternate version for SkyTEST users (although i haven't tested it in game).
Some Details:
- Mod was backported by simply optimizing the meshes to LE format using CAO (Cathedral Assets Optimizer).
- Named dogs (Stump, Meeko, barbas etc.) will also have their appearance changed. However, Barbas' statue will still use the vanilla mesh (The Irish WolfHound) reason being a personalized mesh for that. Original mod didn't address this issue but still gave an advice on it.
- The mod comes in loose files, creating a bsa for one single mesh felt silly.
- The SkyTEST version comes with a couple more meshes to replace generic SkyTEST dogs variants with SkyTEST husky variants. (Puppies remain vanilla tho?)
- I suppose you should LOAD THIS MOD AFTER SkyTEST 4K LE, as it would overwrite the dog meshes.
F.A.Q.:
Q: What's the difference with "A Simple Mod - Dogs into Huskies" by meatbag101?
A: Good Question. I actually looked at and tried both mods and they address the same thing just in different ways: this one simply replaces the .nif file of dogs while meatbag solution was creating an esp to assign to each dog a different mesh record (usually the husky one). meatbag's mod also comes with different downloadable versions with different husky colors, this one has only the default black fur color (unless you use the SkyTEST version). Testing in game showed that not all dogs are changed by meatbag solution (barbas for example), also it could be placebo effect but felt like Xander meshes were loading slightly better? But whatever. I am already short of esp slots so i didn't want another plugin just to end up having to merge it later on. Short answer: Both are great mods, using different approaches, i just felt like this one suited my personal needs best.
Credits:
- XanderVirtus - for letting me convert his mod! Thank you <3
- Bethesda - for creating the game and subsequently the husky models
- The modding community - in general for the huge ecosystem everyone helped build slowly, am still mindblown by how vast this game modding is coming from other games.
- etayorius - for the original SkyTEST mods and the support they gave for previous projects of mine
- Gka1 - for Cathedral Assets Optimizer. Makes adapting game files much quicker and easier.
(make sure to download and endorse it even if you don't play SSE!)
