This is a backport of The Last Journey mod with permission from the mod author tarlazo. The description below is copied from the original mod.
The event is activated by leaving the area with the merchant's wife's journal in your inventory.
Alternatively, if the journal is no longer there because you removed it before installing the mod, it's triggered by passing nearby again.
Three weeks later, some greedy but not-uncompassionate passerby will have taken all their belongings and buried the corpses.
