This is a backport of Vigilant of Stendarr Improvements and Additions mod thanks to open permissions by the author Kaldewing. The description below is from the original modpage.

Description:
Let's face the music. The Vigil of Stendarr don't get a lot of love. Actually to better put it a bunch of the Paladin/Crusader factions get completely stepped on when it comes to Skyrim. The Vigil of Stendarr isn't some ragtag group of misfits. They're an order of paladins that's been around since just after the Oblivion Crisis. So it's time to make another attempt at shaping them up to be real Daedra Hunters. I've set about this task by tweaking three main categories: Stats, Equipment, and Variety. So we'll go through them now:
Stats (and Spells and Perks)
  • Vigilants of Stendarr previously had extremely lowered health than other enemies equal to their level. Pretty much every bandit with the exception of the Level 1 Bandits have almost twice as much health than the Vigilants of Stendarr. Now they are about equal.
  • Vigilants of Stendarr have a pretty small spell pool by default. Their stuck with Oakflesh, Healing, and Lesser Ward from level 1 to level 25. They're Crusaders and Paladins they ought to have a bit more in the spell department than that. Now as the higher in level the Vigilants are the stronger their variants of the spells will be.
  • Perks. Yeah I said it, perks. I put perks on them. Why? Why not? There are a lot of enemies in Skyrim that actually use perks. The perks I've used are all Vanilla, stuff enemies have already used before. The Vigilant will get different perks to fit their new roles as an example the heavy armor wearing melee and archery users will have access to the well-fitted perk. While all of them have it only those that wear the Steel Plate Helmet will benefit from it, meaning those wearing full sets of armor will benefit from a 25% armor rating increase. Archers have perks such as Power Shot or Critical Shot that make them especially dangerous to deal with. Finally Mages can benefit from mage armor and magic resistance but have decreased health so that while they are dangerous at a range, they aren't as enduring as a fully armored warrior in head to head combat.
Equipment
  • Vigilants of Stendarr now always wear Steel Plate Gauntlets and Boots and have a slight chance to be wearing a Steel Plate Helmet. But they have a bit more variation when it comes to their roles. Melee units and archers will utilize Robed Steel Plated Armor, equal in strength to normal Steel Plated Armor but retaining a part of their old outfits. Mages will however have a bit of variation in their robes wearing up to adept in quality.
  • From level 22 and above members of the Vigil that use melee weapons will have a chance to be equipped with a weapon enchanted with Banishing effects. For a group dedicated to hunting down Daedra this makes for an extremely handy addition to their arsenal.
Variety
  • The Vigil have more than just One-Handed Crusaders on their side. Members like Tolan and Carcette are known to utilize Warhammers. Vigilant Tyranus has shown that not every Vigilant has to wear Steel Plate Gauntlets and Boots and uses destruction spells. So with that I'd like to present 3 new variants of the Vigilant of Stendarr.
  • Vigilant Two-Handers: Members of the Vigil of Stendarr that prefer a much more direct approach and choose to honor Stendarr's image by wielding warhammers. They don't utilize as many spells as the other members choosing only to cast Oakflesh as a defensive measure.
  • Vigilant Spellcasters: Vigilant Spellcasters are members of the Vigil that specialize in using magic to defeat their foes. They are physically weaker and less armored than the other types of the Vigilant but have spells specialized to take down Daedra that make them a dangerous addition to the Vigil.
  • Vigilant Archers: Vigilant Marksman that wield Crossbows but lack any magical capability. Previously only seen in the Ruunvald Excavation as enemies they can now be seen roaming Skyrim alongside their fellow members of the Vigil.
A Quick Recommendation and Thanks
I'd highly recommend using this mod with Jonx0r's Extended Encounters mod. It adds more encounters with the Vigilant and it's compatible out of the box.
Thanks to Pierre Despereaux for teaching me how to implement the Robed Steel Plate Armor!
