Can anyone tell me does this mod still work in 2025? I have a 2080TI GPU I have SE but am Considering getting the AE. How do I go about installing etc?
This mod contains only textures and will work on Skyrim SE/AE. Not all mods need to be updated to work properly. That being said, I'm not sure if you know that this mod was created for Classic Skyrim/Oldrim and you are in the Skyrim section of Nexus. There are plenty of options for Skyrim SE/AE on Nexus and other sites as well. If you still prefer to use this mod instead of other options in the Skyrim Special Edition section of Nexus, download the Complete Full version under Main Files :)
No this files won't work properly in AE, as original Skyrim did not feature volumetric lightning, which is why some people are reporting shiny textures cause they trying to use this files in SE/AE.
They work well in SE/AE. Actually, you can use any textures from LE in SE/AE. There is a difference in specular, but SE/AE can handle DX/BC/DXT format.
Anything released under "nexusmods.com/skyrim" should be for the original, and "nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition" for Special Edition respectively. So yes, it HAS to be working. I would seriously recommend looking into how MO2 works, it's still the best Mod Manager out there and helps you keep your game install folder tidy, which is especially important if you don't know what you're doing or if you are experimenting a lot.
And if it didn't even work manually, you definitely misplaced them. They are loose files and so do their work out of the box and keep doing so until you delete them.
Use a mod manager. I recommend you try Mod Organizer 2, but you can use NMM or Vortex if you prefer.
If you insist on installing this mod manually, use the manual download option. Once downloaded, use WinRAR, 7-Zip, or another tool to extract it. After that, place the textures folder inside the Skyrim data folder.
You can use any textures in SE, ANY, there is a difference in specular, because SE has volumetric lightning, it can be that some LE textures have shiny surface, but regardless what anybody say, again, you can use any textures, SE can handle from DX format, BC format, what LE cannot ;), and DXT format.
We in SE doesnt need to look if a texture is working, its the opposite thing, LE users must look, that they do not use BC7 Textures from SE, because that leads to crashes, at this time most SE mods using BC7, because its much better and has less artifacts than DX5.
Only problems are the meshes, some meshes are not working in SE, and can lead to crashes, so when you use texture mods from LE, make sure there are no meshes or run this meshes to nifscope or CAO and test it, do not run meshes blindly to the optimizer, you can break them and this leads to crashes too!!!! 90% meshes from LE working in SE, there are realy only a few that needs to be optimized.

Help a beginner in MODS, I haven't figured out how to install this mod. Thanks for the help!
