Update: Become High King of Skyrim – The Next Generation (v1.5)

The throne room just got busier, bolder, and a whole lot more immersive. This update brings major systems online, refines old ones, and lays the groundwork for the next phase of your reign. Here's what's new in v1.5:
New Features
  • Highreach is now accessible from the beginning of the game, with working map markers!
    You can explore the city immediately, but access to the castle and guild hall remains locked until you claim the throne.
  • New Quest Start
    The quest now begins through an immersive encounter. Once you complete No One Escapes Cidhna Mine and The Blessings of Nature, head to the Solitude Docks to meet Lairah, a Redguard woman with secrets to share. This replaces the old emergency start.
  • A Fully Functioning Court!
    All councilors now serve real functions with immersive daily schedules, unique chambers, and voice lines. Each court role has purpose—and consequence.
  • The King's Ledger
    A new book in your nightstand that tracks who you’ve assigned to key positions (Jarl, Advisor, Priest, Commander, etc.)—so you never lose track of your court.

  • Court Role: Grand Advisor
    Surgus of the Black can now be appointed Grand Advisor. He will sit beside you during court, sandbox in his study, and deliver unique dialogue tied to your reign.
  • Court Role: High Priest
    A new spiritual advisor role is available. The High Priest gives blessings, delivers sermons, and supports a cultural vision of Skyrim united under the crown—not just the Divines.
  • Vendor System Expansion
    • Tsabhi now sells food and spices
    • Uramul now sells weapons
      Both now use rotating stock containers and proper AI behavior
  • The Master of Assassins now has a tutorial dialogue to help new kings understand how to use targeted executions and sabotage.
  • New Throne Area Design
    Unique thrones for the High King, the Grand Advisor, and the Royal Spouse. Layout is more regal, more functional, and free from vanilla clutter.
  • New BHKS-Themed Banners
    No more vanilla faction banners. Your banners now reflect your rule.
  • Redesigned Interiors
    • New rooms added for the Grand Advisor, Priest, and Royal Scholars
    • Massive navmesh improvements to allow smoother pathing for followers and AI
  • Unique Vendor AI and Schedules for All Highreach Citizens
    Citizens now behave with purpose. No more synchronized NPC flash mobs.
Major Fixes
  • Marriage System Finalized
    The bypass wedding system is fully stable. Marriage triggers correctly, sets the proper relationship rank, adds the player and spouse to PlayerMarriedFaction, and fills LoveInterest alias so you get post-wedding greetings and goodbyes.
  • Surgus Follow System Rebuilt
    Surgus now supports full follower behavior using the new fg01_followercontroller-based script system. He can be hired, dismissed, and re-hired correctly.
  • Eldis Follow System Fixed
    Fixed a rare bug where Eldis would refuse to re-follow after being dismissed. Her follower conditions and faction ranks now persist correctly between sessions.
  • Stormcrown Model Fixed
    The crown has been rescaled to better fit bald or short-haired characters. New models now reflect more natural placement on the head.
  • Dialogue Conditions Cleaned
    Fixed multiple cases where CK crashes were caused by unresolved reference aliases. Replaced unstable alias-based conditions with safe faction checks where appropriate.
  • SEQ Fixes and Quest Visibility
    Several dialogue quests were not appearing due to missing entries in the SEQ file. These have now been corrected and show up in the journal properly.
  • Combat Dialogue Linking
    Combat and idle lines from custom followers now properly link to their voice files. FUZ filenames have been cleaned up and re-linked.
Bug Fixes and Tweaks
  • Fixed bug where Supporter dialogue could be abused by asking the same NPC repeatedly. NPCs are now added to a faction after answering.
  • Added random variation responses for Supporter Yes/No dialogue.
  • Surgus and other council members will no longer sandbox on the High King’s throne.
  • Citizens now greet the High King with custom greetings if AAIsHighKing == 1
  • All Hello/Goodbye dialogue has been overhauled to support random variation and conditional filtering by role and location.
  • Quest Fixes — Surgus can now check Civil War completion marking the objective complete if done. Visit Highreach quest is deprecated (you've already been there!).
  • Varfang and Stormrender — Enchantments fixed and now behave as intended.
Worldspace Updates
  • Highreach exterior worldspace received lighting and weather updates to fix perpetual gloom. Region data has been cleaned.
  • World map marker for Highreach Keep has been realigned (partial fix — full fix scheduled for v2).
  • LOD behavior has been revised to avoid Full LOD objects bleeding into other worldspaces.
Voice and Audio Upgrades

    • Nahlotviing (Note: will only speak to you if you’re king, weakling.)
  • Randomized Greetings and Goodbyes
    All follower and court member dialogue now supports randomized hello/goodbye lines, including Surgus and Eldis.
  • New Lines for Vanilla NPCs
    Added unique dialogue to reduce repetition and better reflect the post-kingdom world state.
