Adding .nifs to reference bodies in Outfit Studio is pretty simple and allows you to incorporate different hair meshes into the default body look. This should work with your body system of choice and allow you to add different body hairs to references like 3BA, BHUNP, etc.

Open Outfit Studio.

File > New Project.

Select "From Template" and choose the body you want your mesh to appear on. I only have CBBE installed so I'll use the default nude body. Next.

Now name your project like you want it to show up in Bodyslide. You want "clear outfit" and "automatically search for textures" unless you know you need something else. Finish.

You should see your reference body in the main Outfit Studio window.

File > Import > From .NIF... and select the mesh you want to add to the body. If it asks you if you want Skyrim .nifs to be optimized, click yes.

In this case I'm making a lighter version of Simple Pubes with the original 50k polygon mesh from 3D pubic hair for CBBE and SOS by 4uDIK1 that I've cleaned up a bit. If you're using an asset that has some body references already attached to it, it should line up pretty well out of the box.

For more meshes, you can use the options from the updated 3D SOS Pubic Hair for Females and Males. Just download the mod and find the .nifs in /meshes. Be sure to give appropriate credit if you use these assets!

Now it's time to rotate your body and get the mesh aligned as best as you can.

In the right sidebar, right click the .nif object and select move, scale, or rotate. Goof with the sliders until you're happy.

(For scale and rotate, it really helps to change the origin dropdown from "Zero" to "Center of Selected Shape". For Scale, uncheck "Uniform" to adjust each axis independently.)

Depending on the body your mesh was made for, it might not be a perfect fit. The scale tool is your friend for changing the curves. But don't get too nuts about it. Odds are you won't notice small gaps in game, but you probably will notice heavy clipping unless your mesh is really "fluffy".

Once you're happy, select the .nif in the sidebar and in the top menu Slider > Conform Selected.

If you're smarter than me, maybe you can adjust the settings to get a better outcome, but I just use the defaults and click "OK". Now your mesh should be attached to the vertices of the reference body.

I'm not sure if it's necessary (somebody clue me in), but I heard it was a good idea to right click the .nif and select "Copy Bone Weights". Again, default values seem to work.

Now you just need to export your project for it to show up in Bodyslide!

File > Save Project As...

Name the project. Click "To Project" to forward the name to the other fields.

The Output File Name should be "femalebody".

The Output Data Path should be "meshes\actors\character\character assets".

This ensures that when you save your Bodyslides, (assuming you have your directories set up right) they will go to a location that overwrites the default nude body.

Make sure Low/High Weight Output is checked. Not sure if it's necessary, but I also check the "Copy reference shape" box. Save.

That's it!

Close Outfit Studio.

Open Bodyslide.

Your new body with mesh should be available in the Output/Body dropdown.

Style as you like. Click "Build" to create the final game-ready femalebody_0/1.nifs.

I like to change Bodyslide to output to a blank mod so I can easily enable/disable and overwrite.

Click the "Settings" button. Click the "Advanced" arrow to expand more options. Change the output path the the empty mod directory.

Hope that helps. It seems like there should be a better way to get dope pubic hair in game without a bunch of mod dependencies. But until I learn to actually mod, this isn't that hard to get a good outcome. Let me know if you have any questions.
