Updating to New Version

  • With the exception of major version upgrades like 2.5 to 3.0, indoor saves are 95% safe between versions
  • It is however not possible to predict save stability if you added/removed mods, or test every iteration of every save game. If you are happy with the experience, finish the play through before moving to next version is safest
  • You can use [NoDelete] in front of installed mods like "[NoDelete] Conduit" (space is mandatory) to keep them from being removed, however you will still need to manually put them back into load order
  • Download the .wabbajack file and install to the same folder as before, choose "overwrite"

We will not provide support to any changes you make to the list.

Any mod can be added/removed if you know what you are doing.

Add New Mods

  • Always have a separate save game before adding new mods, in case you need to remove and revert.  In general adding new mods is a lot safer than removing mid-playthrough
  • Any mod that requires Address Library will need a VR specific DLL unless specifically stated by author. For mods newer than Nov 2021, check to make sure you are installing SE version 1.5 version of the mod, AE or SE 1.6 DLL will instant crash
  • Any mods that need to be in root folder will need to be put into the root folder of Essential Boot Files (back up existing files first). This mod list uses Root Builder so your actual Skyrim VR root folder is 100% clean, and you should NEVER EVER put files there directly

Easy Mods to Add to the End of the List

  • Texture/mesh mods that do not contain plugins
  • NPC, follower and special effect/gameplay mods that do not edit the overall world meaningfully
  • New quest/land mods that take place in a different world and makes minimal edits to the vanilla game (i.e. Forgotten City)
  • Base Object Replacer based mods
  • Open Animation Replacer based mods
  • SPID based mods

By the same token these are also the easiest mods to remove from the list.

In general if you remove a mod and it breaks Dyndolod, you probably removed too much.

Advanced Users

  • You want to put mods into the correct category, on both mod tab and plugin tab.  Pay attention to what is overwriting your meshes and textures, and what is overwriting your plugins
  • Anything that adds buildings to cities or major locations will probably need a patch with the Capital/Great City/JK interior overhaul's this list contains.  Like high end lists like Nolvus and Lorerim.  We recommend not changing anything in this area unless you REALLY know what you are doing
  • You only need to re-run Dyndolod if you make major changes and notice distance details are now out of sync, or must remove mods linked to Dyndolod (not recommended).  The Dyndolod settings the list uses can be found HERE on the Step Modification Page
  • You only need to re-run Pandora (make sure you install C++ from its requirement page) if you install or remove a mod that requires it
  • You only need to re-run Synthesis if you remove one of the existing NPC mods
  • You only need to re-run Bodyslide if you add new clothing/armor mods, NPC body preset changes do not require Bodyslide re-run
