Common Issues

Preface
General users: Please update to the latest version (2.4) at your earliest convenience to take advantage of recent bug fixes. All users should remember to restart BISR in-game before use (as in after installation, if on a current save) so that your game can flush its outdated variables. Verify that your setup satisfies BISR's dependency requirements via the Auxiliary page.

Here, you are on the primary/main branch of BISR. This page is the official page for BISR. Modified versions, such as translated packages containing either modified or unnecessary assets, with or without permission, are not supported. Deprecated versions are also not supported.

I cannot and will not help you with technical or permissive issues if you are using a modified or deprecated version. Modified versions that change items beyond the plugin and localization files very likely contain assets without sufficient permissions (which I cannot give in my position, even if I want to). However, this likelihood is only adjacent to the simple fact that any modified version introduces a variable into your modding environment that I can't account for in my own testing. I don't have oversight over any re-releases of my work. Even as I permit such releases as FOSS, it is unreasonable for me to solve issues not introduced by my own work in its intended state. Deprecated versions aren't supported precisely because they have been superseded and your issues may not exist on the latest version.

Otherwise, if you find any issues unique to the latest version, you are very welcome to report them.

Common Issues
1. My animations don't play: You forgot to run (or re-run) your animation injector. Run it again.

2. Malignis Animations isn't playing after the 2.3 update: You forgot to update Malignis Bathing to 1.1. Do so and run your animation injector again.

3. My character isn't undressing: You forgot to install Scrab's Papyrus Extender. This is not the same mod as PO3's Papyrus Extender. If you've still got issues, make sure you've selected the correct armor slots for that specific item you want un-equipped.

4. I'm very obviously in a vanilla Skyrim river yet I still can't bathe: Most often, this is because PO3's Papyrus Extender isn't working for your game. This I can't help you with - you need to solve this on your own. Still, there may rarely be the case that you have a water patch (as differentiated from and serving a standard water mod) interfering with the detection itself. In this case, remove the water patch - BISR doesn't need such patches to work.

5. My player character doesn't use anything but vanilla animations when bathing: "Player Animations" -> "Primary Animation Style" -> "Custom"

6. I have purple textures on my character(s): You forgot to disable 2.2 before installing 2.3. At this stage, either rollback and do so or remove these incorrect textures via showracemenu.

7. I don't see any overlays: Three common reasons: you just didn't wait long enough, you don't have enough open overlay slots under skee64.ini, or the installed overlay textures are incompatible with your body type mod.

8. My overlays don't disappear after bathing: Make sure your PapyrusUtil is a modern version and that your chosen Dirt Fade setting isn't longer than your actual bathing animation time. If you are using UBE, however, this is a known issue due to the RaceMenu (SKEE64) dll bundled with UBE for 1.5 game versions. Either update to AE or request the fixes to be backported.

9. Something else isn't working: Make sure nothing is overwriting BISR's files and that you don't have any older version of mzin or monoman's BiS installed at the same time.

Again, please don't feel afraid to report your issues and ask me for help! Just remember to look at the above, read the description, and restart BISR in-game before doing so. You'll save yourself a lot of time by first doing some debugging on your own.
