Wanting to get some notes to you all ref this new version.  An updated User Guide and new video will follow soon although VRAMr development has very much consumed me since Christmas that I'm going to take a holiday first.

To start I'd like to thank HOSE, BennyDollaz, Ms Mayhem, Machina and 1xAnonymous for their support, testing and feedback.  Appreciate you!

  • VRAMr is now faster - about 33% as an average reported from the testing team

  • You will also find a considerable more amount of VRAM has been freed up in game.  The testing team said Whiterun Tundra felt much smoother for example

  • With the above said, VRAMr demands a much higher initial and temporary amount of free disk space.  If you don't have that space to spare for the optimisation process, stick with Version 12

  • Download, install, activate and run as per previous versions/videos

  • Now a 2 part process - it's not complex, it's for speed and robustness

  • Don't forget to read the Interactive User Guide that loads in a separate window when you launch VRAMr.  Use your keyboard's cursor keys to turn the pages

  • Part 1 will prepare your files to your nominated VRAMr Output folder and then finish - read the onscreen instructions

  • You can then close all open programs to free up resources for Part 2 - this includes closing your Mod Manager

  • To start Part 2 - run the VRAMr-Optimise.BAT file in your VRAMr Output folder (ie. D:\VRAMr)

  • The initial Optimisation ETA can be a little erratic up until ~15%.  After that it becomes accurate and reliable

  • The auto-resume feature is not a toy.  It works, the testing team clobbered it.  Although I've put buffer flushes into the code to minimise texture corruption, halting your optimisation unnecessarily just to test it for yourself is not recommended

Future plans for VRAMr are to add a full GUI and add a quality check process to all optimised textures to ensure no corruption.  In the meantime, try DDS Texture Scanner at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community
