A visit to a friend at a nearby fort led to a strange encounter during the return trip.

At first she thought it was a frostbite spider, but as it approached we could see that it's head was more like insect-like, with large rent tinted eyes. It chirped upon spotting her and made to attack, swiping with it's multiple legs and attempting to bite her as she dodged.

It reared up to strike again, and she made her move, firing a spell down the creatures throat, cooking it from the inside.
Settling onto her knees to catch her breath, the Imperial wondered about the strange thing laying dead a few feet from her.

"A thing like that shouldn't be up here on the surface. There must be a reason for it, some other danger driving it from whatever burrow it called home."

Taking stock her own injuries she decided it was best to head home. Despite her curiosity, there was little time before it got dark, and she didn't want to risk encountering anything else on the way. She cut one of the forelegs from the body as evidence of the encounter, as no doubt the local wolves or other animals would attempt to take the carcass for their own.

"I'll inform the patrol in the morning, hopefully there's been no other sightings."
