If you use a mod manager this will be an easy fix.

First in game, open the console, then click on one of the purple textures.  It should highlight and in the console window show you what NIF file is being used.  Now exit the game.
Using the mod manager, open the virtual directory and navigate to where that nif is.

You have three options at this point.

    1. Replace the NIF with a different mod.
    2. Open the NIF in nifskope, then expand the texture set to see where it is trying to pull textures from. Then in the virtual directory go there and see if the files exist, or may be incorrectly named.
    3. Download a texture replacer that contains the texture path/files the NIF is looking for.

Purple means missing texture, and solid black means that the file is trying to use a LE parallax texture.

First you need to locate the NIF file, did you already do that ingame?

If so the nexus mod manager should have an option to view the virtual directory, then following the remaining above steps.

Im using the mod Climates of Tamriel - Winter Edition. In case you are not familiar with this mod, it just covers the whole of Skyrim with snow and ice EXCEPT the inside of the major cities. Caves, ruins etc that have snow textures inside change as well. I saw the purple -missing textures only on rocks like the one in the uploaded picture so far. It happens in every cave, ruin and exterior rock formation as well though. I encountered it today for example inside Dimhollow Crypt near the entrance. Apologies for the long post but it really buggers me. Vanilla Skyrim doesnt have purple - missing texture bugs. I could play Vanilla but in my case it CTDs all the time. Dont know what kind of texture mod replacer to download in order to fix my issues.

If you can provide the NIF file name being used by the mesh that is purple, i can try and find you a replacement.

I just found out that its the SMIM mod's fault. Missing/messed up textures after uninstalling the SMIM mod from my game. It affects those rock textures in the whole game. Which kinda sucks actually. Might have to reinstall the game in order to fix it. The mod uninstallation messed even more textures around the game. Some of them can be fixed by replacing them with another texture mod, others cannot.

Success my friend. It was a messy missing cave dirt cliff mesh / texture. Missing after the SMIM mod uninstallation. Hopefully its fixed everywhere in the game. Have to check but Dimhollow Crypt is safe now. And i did find mesh and texture replacer mods for other missing SMIM files that bothered me. Have to check those as well. SMIM is a mess. And the game has even more issues. It keeps minimizing to deskstop most of the time. Need a fix for that. Main menu backround replacer mods dont show up. And there is a screen discoloration bug as well. What can i say its a mess.

Cant thank you enough though for the help
