About this image

"It's been a month since Henry hasn't awnsered any of my letters. How unusual and totally out of character of him. I have waited for weeks and after i was tired of waiting, i decided to travel all the way to Skyrim and pay him a visit. A long and tedious trip indeed but one i needed to make.

First i got to the couriers who handle the deliveries in the region as i was convinced that the fault was on their end. I met one of them and they know that many have complained to not have their letters awnsered by the Gromwood family but they did do their deliveries or at least they used to. The courier explained that the place has become cursed and that the Jarl has issued a warning concerning any that venture to Gromwood Manor and its surroundings and forbade the couriers to travel there as some of them have started to become missing ever since doing their deliveries there.

How ridiculous i thought. They must have been speaking about the wrong house. So i traveled there myself and sure enough, Gromwood Manor changed alot since the last time i went there. It is now completely unrecognisable. The entire Estate is in disarray, it almost seems to be in ruins. The gates are covered in vines, there are dead leaves everywhere and the garden plants and flowers are all dead. The walls of the house has become rotten. But this wasn't the most concerning.

What was concerning was the feeling Gromwood Manor had on me. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my entire life. Despite being a very lovely day with the sunshine blooming above me, the place was incredibly dreadful and worrisome. Every part of me was screaming to get out of there. But i traveled all the way over there and i wasn't about to let this go. If my friend was in any sort of danger in there, i needed to get to him and his family as they could've been in need of help.

So i mustered the courage to walk up to the front door and knock. While waiting for someone to awnser at the door, my heart was beating so much that i could hear it in my ears and i started to sweat all over out of fear. No one awnsered so i knocked again and that's when the door opened with the loudest and most ominous creaking i've ever heard but it didn't open all the way through, just enough for me to pass through.
It stayed there, opened, showing just pitch black darkness inside and no one coming out of the house to greet me as it would usually do. The door just layed there, open, in pure dreadful silence. No one could be seen inside from where i was standing but i am more than sure that someone was behind the door and was holding it open but refused to show itself and waited for me to enter. I stood there, in pure awe as i've never experienced such a deafening silence in my entire life.
At this point, my fear was so much that i started to instinctly and slowly back away, one step after the other. As i was doing so, the door remained open, just simply and plainly open. Open to the pure darkness inside.
As i fully regained my senses, i quickly turned around and ran for my dear life. Just as i was crossing the front gate, i quickly turned around to check if someone could've showed themselves during my hasty leave but no one was there. Only difference was that the door was now completely closed shut. The more i distanced myself from Gromwood Manor, the better i felt to the core of my being.

After a thorough investigation, I discovered that there are alot of dark rumors about the Estate. One of the locals said something that shook me: "Gromwood Manor is dead. Now lies the Grimwood Manor in its place."

I asked for the Jarl to investigate this further and send help to deal with this but he refused to do anything about it. Even the Mercenaries i tried to hire know about the place and outright refuse to go inside no matter how much gold i offer. No matter what i tried, there is nothing i can do.

Everyone warned me but i refused to believe. I have no idea what in Oblivion happened in Gromwood Manor but I think that from now on, i will have to get at peace with the thought that my friend, Viscount Henry Gromwood, is now dead along with its once beautiful Estate. Whoever or whatever is now residing in Gromwood Manor, or shall i call it "Grimwood Manor", is an evil of unknown origin.

May the eight bring peace to Henry and his family, wherever they are."

I did not do this concept drawing but it is the inspiration behind the Grimwood Manor mod i'm doing.
