    Great lighting, subject, and composition. Your art is noble, also!

    Like their forgers, metals can be noble:

    'A noble metal is ordinarily regarded as a metallic chemical element that is generally resistant to corrosion and is usually found in nature in its raw form. Gold, platinum, and the other platinum group metals (ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium) are most often so classified.'   -- Wikipedia

    Aye, 'tis a noble craft.

    Under a spreading chestnut-tree
         The village smithy stands;
    The smith, a mighty man is he,
         With large and sinewy hands,
    And the muscles of his brawny arms
         Are strong as iron bands.
    Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

    A little story: My father a WW II combat vet signed up the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked at age 17. When he returned medals in hand, he went back to high school. He wanted to get his diploma. The principal (head master, dude in charge) called him into the office and said, "Laird, you're older now, experienced in ways I'll never know from the war... Tell me something, what do you remember from school before you went to war?" My Dad replied, "Well, I remember the Village Blacksmith," and then recited the entire poem. Without hesitation, the principal pulled out a High School Diploma and signed it on the spot. I'm certain that principal would have given my Dad a diploma if he had said: Um... 2 + 2 = 4.  I memorized the poem in 7th grade (7th year of public education), but can only recite that first verse now.

      This principal made the best decision possible. Not because your father remembered this poem, but because, in my opinion, despite the parenthesis of the war, this young veteran had not forgotten what his life was like before the conflict and that he showed extreme resilience by resuming the normal course of his life.Too many veterans came back broken. I don’t know if I’m expressing my thoughts correctly, but it doesn’t matter. I am happy that he survived and that he lived what he had to live.
      You can’t imagine how touched I am that you share this remembering. It is for me a great mark of attention and the expression of a real willingness to share. By posting this image, I could not hope for better. Many thanks to you.

    Good morning! The first beautiful picture today. Handicrafts, especially those threatened with extinction,
    are one of the highest art forms for me. Pure strength of mind and body. Respect. Have a great weekend.

      I too have always admired people who practice a manual trade and especially the old trades. When you see the work done by some Italian and German master blacksmiths of the fifteenth-sixteenth century, it commands respect. True works of art.
      You too my friend, have a great weekend.
