Proventus = Perhaps so. Anyway, the reason I have called you here is because it seems that the Jarl had recently changed his “Last Will and Testament”. Although, no one can remember him doing so.
Lydia = I still don’t see what any of this has to do with us.
Proventus = It seems that against all the protocols, Balgruuf the Greater has named our Thane, Idiot Elf to be his immediate successor. She is to become Jarl of Whiterun with immediate effect.
Lydia = For Fox Sake! You have got to be kidding me!
Proventus = Another coincidence I see.
Idiot Elf = Partdon! How so?
Proventus = Strangely enough, that is precisely what I said upon finding out.
Proventus = There must be hundreds of people that should be in line before Idiot Elf has any claim as Jarl. Four of which are direct relatives to Balgruuf and live within Dragonsreach. I cannot imagine what he was thinking by giving her the throne.
Idiot Elf = He must have had an epiphany then. Perhaps he just recognised my true potential.
Lydia = Or had a nervous breakdown.
Proventus = It may have been a mad moment, but he seemed fine the last time I saw him. Unfortunately, it is a legally binding document, and so we must all abide by his wishes. At least for as long as she is still alive.
Idiot Elf = hat do you mean… “for as long as I am alive”?
