Not sure what's causing it,
but I load up 'showracemenu' and it disappears,
only to reappear when I exit and load up the characters save. 
Not that it's a big issue, it seems only specific to this character. 
it's just I haven't seen it happen before... weird.

    Three years later and I came across this very same issue. My female nord/vampire lord all of a sudden has this very same warpaint. I tried everything...it won't go away.
    I'm not sure if this warpaint is vanilla or if it came with a mod that I installed. However I didn't install any warpaint mod by its own.

    Try going into Racemenu and going to the default war paint slider under >Head. Then cycle through each one you until you get to the end of the slider. By the time you get to the end you should have scrolled passed the paint currently on the character. It should take off the paint when you scroll passed it and shouldn't appear after you exit. I had this happen to one of my Redguard characters but I was using one of the default war paints so I'm not sure if it'll work with modded paints. Worth a shot though, hope that helps.

      I have a similar issue with a COR preset; thanks for the tip. I will test to see if it resolves the seemingly non-removable warpaint. :)

      Thanks, I'll try that and see if it clears up. The interesting thing is I don't have any warpaint mods. So I'm more curious to what it's from. Or if it is vanilla I don't recognise it.
      If that don't work I'll try and build the Preset over another character, see if that fixes it.

    I had that happen to me with hairstyles. It fixed when I deleted previous saves of the chracter that had the previous hairstyle.
    For me it was ok when I got out of racemenu but when I loaded the character the hairstyle was as if I did not change them. So maybe it is not the same issue.

      I had this issue with her hair before the warpaint, the hair changed the way you've described it, and then the warpaint started appearing...
