About this image

consider this a pseudo blog post lmao

i'm a little stuck at the moment- i'm conflicted on how i feel with releasing little mods vs. waiting a bit and making bigger, themed ones
spoiler: i'm thinking of something along the lines of EVG Animation Variance.
npc type animations, varied idles, walks, runs, and little things that could add variety.
i currently have elder animations (slightly hunched) essentially done, minus sitting anims which have poor blending. should be easy to fix.
child anims, a new guard idle and unused vanilla idles for the player are also ready.
i even have 3 new torch stances, raised, tilted away (like "proper torch wield") and an overhead one for indoors.

the problem is that it kind of doesn't feel like enough content for a "big" mod with a title like that.
but im also stupid and dont want to upload tiny things like a torch animation replacer if the preview video is going to be 20 seconds long. (i love video editing)
ah.

conditional idles.
there have been so many roadblocks with the movement animations and i.. don't like working on it.
posture changes like elder anims are easy. making new walk and run cycles from scratch to work with skyrim is hell.
ive done it so many times just to find more issues
not to mention the footsteps for run and walk need to be timed properly to blend together when moving at 50-99% speed
i have some small things done, like a redone female modesty idle and some polish for the stretch
but i'd feel bad for people tracking the mod expecting a huge update and getting nothing :/

anyway rant over! as for the image here-
I made a new animation for "torches," and edited the base Everlight torch to just be the magic effect alone.
i might try making a held in hand light spell, technically a bound torch- if something like that is possible : >

In my opinion several tiny updates is better than one content heavy mod for which you've been waiting for half a year. I'm too old to be excited about Christmas but waiting for mods is unbearable.

I think updates will be appreciated no matter the size. It's all free bonus content to begin with after all. As for new mods,, you could easily take the common route of uploading a series of small mods, then offering them together in a bundled FOMOD package with it's own page.

Running/walking animations are the hardest to get right, I hope you make a breakthrough there :D It's so easy for them to be unrealistic, too girly, too manly etc. I think recent game titles such as LoU2 are a good place to look for inspiration when it comes to realistic animation, since there's seems motion-captured.
I don't think people in general expect huge updates. Just as long as the mods is somewhat polished, which your mods have been :D (plus your editing is fantastic!) What you're making seemed impossible in Skyrim until very recently, so I don't think there will be an angry mob if you release it in small bites.
You can always make a mod with several animations, as you listed, and if you want to add more you can :D
