About this mod

A personal overhaul of Thieves Guild members. Or just Brynjolf, if you prefer.

Permissions and credits
(Update January 18th, 2025--All NPCs are now using vanilla race, which should mean better compatibility with EasyNPC. Refined body textures and some minor changes.)

There are already a number of good Thieves Guild NPC overhauls on Nexus, but I'm stubborn and want to do everything my way.

Again, everything suits my personal taste; some NPCs look radically different from vanilla and that's the way I prefer it (I have this weird face-blindness-but-not-really thing where if a guy has the exact same hair color and style and similar facial hair my brain registers them as the exact same person. Yeah. Sometimes I wish this guild had more diverse members like the DB). If the changes don't suit your taste, well, look somewhere else!

NPCs included are:
- Brynjolf, Karliah, Mercer, Vex, Delvin, Tonilia, Sapphire, Vipir the Fleet, Niruin, Cynric Endell, Thrynn, Rune, Garthar, Ravyn Imyan, Etienne Rarnis, Dirge, Maul.
Had to include Maul since I headcanon him and Dirge to look pretty similar. They're siblings after all.

NPCs not included are:
- Ragged Flagon vendors
- The face sculptor (she's not related to TG anyway)
- Gallus (he's a ghost wearing a fully-covered Nightingale armor, so)
- Nocturnal (I already did her here)
- Vekel the Man (his face sculpt was throwing me issues, so I cut him out. a shame, really. I was really liking his design).

If you want to install this with another replacer and want their changes to override mine (say, an individual Brynjolf replacer or something), just load their mod after mine.

December 11 update:
There's a new file for JUST Brynjolf.

I wanted to provide different hair options for Bryn but FOMODs are scary the original HGH2 hair (Corvenius) has a little too many sub-parts, so the only way I could do that is through a different ESP. So I made a new file that changes just Brynjolf, independent from the rest of the mod, and changes Brynjolf's "default" hair in that mod from Corvenius to KS Hairdos' Alexander (which only has two subparts plus the scalp, easier to tinker on Nifskope).

If you want to keep the rest of the mod and change Brynjolf's hair, download both of the main files and load Brynjolf Refined last.

If KSH Alexander doesn't suit your liking there are 8 other options available in the miscellaneous section. You STILL need to download Brynjolf Refined as all the necessary textures and esp changes are packaged in that mod. Without it you'll get black face bug.

If there are any problems with the optional hairs lmk.

One day I'll learn how to make FOMODs. Today is not that day.

Important details I forgot to mention bc of course I did:
- I changed weight data and some outfit records, so if installing on a new save where you've already met some of these NPCs, there's some homework you need to do beforehand:
open console, click on the NPC that needs to be updated, type 'setnpcweight [the new weight]', disable, enable.
Mercer      50
Karliah      35
Delvin50
Niruin40
Etienne      45
Ravyn40
Cynric
45

- If you're getting black face bug, please do not use Face Discoloration Fix (their heads will turn invisible). Sort out your load order or reinstall.

Technical details/known issues:
- Brynjolf's hair has some transparency issues on the scalp. Unticking the Zbuffer_write on the hair meshes kinda fixed it in my testing, but it made the hair have this weird black, blocky shadows on the strands, so I picked the lesser of two evils.
- Some clipping with ears and hairs. I tried, I swear.
- Vanilla ambient occlusion might result in some weird shadows around the face (including neck seam where there should be none). I figured most people are using community shaders or ENB these days so hopefully it's not much of an issue. In regular gameplay it shouldn't look that noticeable--unless you're overly fixated on Brynjolf's neck for some reason.
Weird shadows around the eyebrows can also pop up. I already ticked zbuffer_write on all the eyebrow meshes, should fix the issue, but if it pops up again I'm not sure what else to do.
- I'd like to reiterate this mesh, transparency or shadow-related problems aren't just exclusive to my replacers or even CotR-based replacers (I've seen them on other folks' HPH replacers too). It's something something skyrim problem idk. Using an ENB or community shaders should mitigate these issues somewhat.
