About this mod

This mod changes how Ice Storm and Chain Lightning Spells works. I made this to nerf these spells, to improve them and make them more enjoyable. And I may release in the future more files with different adjustments to these spells.

First I decided to make this mod to nerf Ice Storm and Chain Lightning because I think they're so much more stronger as aoe spells compared to Fireball that rendered fireball almost useless. If not for npcs immune to frost and shock, fireball I would say is practicaly useless at close range. I say practicaly because you can still deal damage, but why would you use a weaker spells? Ice Storm clip through multiple enemies, so let's say you had a npc right in front of you and much more npcs behind this one. If you used fireball, you would hit npcs in area of 15 foot of where you hit. The npcs behind much far from this one would not be hit while with Ice Storm would just clip through much more enemies and thus dealing more damage In a area. It's a more effective spell against crowds. Chain Lightning is also more effective. It's a instant hit, you can't miss within a certain range and It's aoe is bigger. It's not said in the description of the spell in the game but If you look in CK you'll see that chain lightning has a value of 20 in the value of area. Fireball has 15. Unless there's a unknown factor to me, maybe a hidden factor to achieve the final result of the calculation, the Chain Lightning has a broader aoe. It also matches my impression that Chain Lightning worked in a more broad area. Also shock damage is a more neutral damage. This is another advantage of this spell and all shock spells. Fireball and fire damage based spells only excel in max. range. And maybe has wider hitbox compared to frost spells and shock spells, but I'm not sure. Fire damage based spell has bigger collision radius compared to almost all destruction spells except Ice Storm. Fireball has 10 and Ice Storm has 42. And again, about this specific information I'm not sure, but I assume It is that way because It is a self explanatory term. This also should be easy to confirm. I just didn't. Even If fire damage based spell has the same size of hitbox, or about about the same size of hitbox compared to frost and shock damage based spells, this just render fire damage based spells even weaker.

The first version of the mod, version 1.0, changes Ice Storm to be a projectile, to be faster and to happen an explosion on impact. And It changes Chain Lightning by just removing it's aoe feature, both the aoe damage and aoe visual effect displayed. The sound displayed is about the same, but It may be more quieter or more louder. I tried to used the exact same but I couldn't so I had to find another way. I believe it uses the same files that display the sound effect of Chain Lightning. I copied the same formula that dictates the speed of the spells to be more lore-friendly and because I think it's cool and good enough. For example, Incinerate moves at a speed of 3200 and Icy Spear moves at a speed of 2500. Fireball also moves at a speed of 2500. And I don't know If it's m/h, or km/h or what. But you can confirm in the game that they are the same unit of speed. So, 2500 is 78.125% of 3200; therefore I made Ice Storm be 78.125% of 2500, which is 1,953.125. I put this exact same value in CK but it automatically changes to 1,953.130, so there's a difference of 0,000.005. But there's nothing I can do about it. Not that I know. I think of this new Ice Storm like a floating rasengan-impact reactive freezing bomb. You can see in the internet a phenomenon of a bottle of water that instatly freeze when you shake it. It's about the same concept. It hit something and because it hits, it freezes. I don't know how this would work, this is up to your imagination. And about the chain lightning, I actually tried to make it aoe but It was complicated and also seems that never happen of a thunder leap between people in real life. I searched and didn't find anything about. So because It didn't already made much sense, and I wanted to nerf it, I just removed the aoe effect.

This mod also don't change any value related to damage or resistances. Ice Storm is a projectile, has increased speed and maximum reach; has reduced collision radius and impact force to be the same as the fireball. Chain Lightning just has aoe damage removed and the aoe visual effect removed, the link of shock that appear between targets when you cast the spell. It may seem that it has changed the damage of resistances If you watched the video but it's because I'm using a mod called "True Armor". If you see any bugs let me know.

HOW TO UNINSTALL:
Remove using a mod manager or remove the esp from your folder and replace the nif file with the original one.
