PROBLEM:
Lydia wants to be nice. She wants to help. But her father, a man named Todd, made her dumb. Like...really excrutiatingly dumb. And she hates Mudcrabs with a burning passion. So whenever she sees one she'd go chase it down the next cliffside and get stuck in a ravine. And there we are, sad, lonely, abandoned, forsaken in a cold and hostile world. Horny with no one to help. But no more. Since we can't make her smarter, we just use the power of Todd to bring her back whenever we unsheathe the big ol' blade. And all of a sudden, there's a real, working digital cure for loneliness.
PACKAGE OVERVIEW:
Script is in the BSA. Source is installed for you to use and recompile if needed.
The effect is suspended when Lydia is in wait, in case you wanna sneak through a dungeon and need to re-cast your cloak every now and then.
COMPATIBILITY:
Works on all versions of the game up until SSE v1.6.1130 until proven otherwise.

The mod refers to Lydia's RefID via her Skyrim.esm FormID. It will work fine as long as any of your mods does not change the ingame-Lydia to a character with a different FormID (aka replaces the original Lydia with it's own new character) and re-routes all her quests to that new character. This is the code snippet:
myActor= Game.GetFormFromFile(0x000A2C94, "Skyrim.esm") As Actor ;; this grabs Lydia's RefID without having to fill the property via CK
