No more escape and evasion tactics needed upon briefly entering Riften to assassinate Grelod do a little sightseeing! This little mod disables the initial forcegreets for Maul and Brynjolf. Talk to them when you're ready; their dialogue is unchanged and will proceed like normal.
There are other mods that settle Brynjolf down, but I'm not aware of one that also covers Maul. Additionally, this one is very simple, lightweight, and strictly limited in scope. Does not require USSEP but does forward a relevant change. ESL-flagged and will not take up a plugin spot in your load order. If you are not using the latest version of Skyrim you will need... THE BEES.
Details: I created two global variables (AX_BrynPlsChill and AX_MaulNo1AskedU) that are set to 1 by default. There are three forcegreet packages where I added the relevant new globals checking for 0 in the conditions stack. Compatible with everything that doesn't edit these packages. When you speak to Bryn or Maul, their blocking topics linked to the forcegreets proceed as normal. Or you can console toggle the globals (set AX_BrynPlsChill to 0 and set AX_MaulNo1AskedU to 0). Also, the spoiler tag absolutely refuses to work and I give up.
