Taking a break from my usual Nord centred content to focus on my second favourite culture of the Province of Skyrim: The Reachmen.

What this mod does:

Adds 55 books from ESO relating to the history and culture and places them in and around their various dungeons and settlements.

I've never played ESO but in fairness, they greatly expanded the lore of the people of the Reach to an impressive level, working from four or five books in Vanilla Skyrim.

Three criticisms you might have with this mod and my response:

1) I thought the Reachmen were illiterate? While they seem to favour oral transmission of tales and writing certainly isn't a priority for them, they can and do write, for example:
Forsworn Missive and Forsworn Note
2) Why would the Forsworn be interested in books hundreds of years old? The militant Forsworn, who always talk about returning to the Old Ways, would be very interested in keeping their history and lore intact.
3) Aren't many of these books written by non-Reachmen? True, but that doesn't reduce their value. To use a real world example, a lot of the information we have about the Celts (who the Reachmen seem to be based on btw) are from the Greeks and Romans, who offer useful information though it might be inaccurate or biased.

My headcanon rationale for these books and their placements:

"When the Nords came to retake Markarth, they came with a vengeance. They brandished axes and torches and there was hate in their eyes. They had not come to negotiate, but to destroy. They wanted to make sure the Reachmen would never again claim Markarth for their own. They started gathering up any of our books and histories they could get their hands on and started a pyre. Those who fled to the hills were able to save a book or two each, at best. So much of our history was lost. We can never forgive them".
