ncient Falmer Ruins
 by Arx Vallium

Description

The Ancient Falmer were an integral part of Skyrim's history before the Atmorans arrived yet we never see their presence in Skyrim outside of the Dawnguard DLC. This mod changes that! Much like their Ancient Nord counterparts, you can now find the vast marble remnants of Ancient Falmer temples, fortresses, cities and other locales that have stood the test of time tucked away in Skyrim's landscape for the avid explorer to uncover! Delve into these Ancient Falmer sites and risk confrontation with the undead guardians who will rise again to defend their holy and arcane secrets locked deep beneath the snow!

:Featuring:

Syrabane's Enclave

Spoiler:
Show
Lore: While most of the exterior courtyard has been washed and eroded away into the Sea of Ghosts, the main entrance still stands boasting a mighty fortress carved out of the Haafingar hills that meets the crashing waves. A great repository of Falmer knowledge, this location is dedicated to Syrabane, the elvish god-ancestor of magic also known as the "Warlock's God". The enclave is a temple that doubles as a library and is haunted by many vengeful Ancient Falmer ghosts versed in the icy school of destruction. The enclave contains a high volume of bookshelves
stocked with all manner of magical trinkets. The particularly lucky explorer
might stumble across priceless Ancient Falmer tomes still intact after all this
time...

How to clear: Eliminate the boss inside the final chamber.

Iceberg Ruins
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: Where the mouth of the White River meets the Sea of Ghosts, a field of icebergs float in the freezing surf. These icebergs hide pieces of the once great Falmer city of Alasil Av Auta. While pieces of the city have assimilated with the surrounding icebergs, most of it lies at the bottom of the sea. While it's unknown how the city came to be in its current condition, what is known is that the city was famed for its astronomers and even housed a highly sophisticated planetarium. Any adventurer willing to hold their breath and brave the sub-zero temperatures to get at the riches inside will be well rewarded.

How to clear: Eliminate all enemies inside the final chamber.

Kindreds Lament
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: There is a mountain pass at the foot of the Throat of the World which connects Ivarstead and Whiterun but few wish to travel it for fear of being kidnapped by its current feral inhabitants. Within this pass lies a profaned Ancient Falmer place of great sorrow. Its original purpose has been lost to time but in the days of Ysgramor’s invasion, the Ancient Falmer inhabitants were forced to defer to their Dwemer neighbors who lived in a great city underneath the Throat of The World. In an act of desperation, the king of this place made a deal with the Dwarves which had… unforeseen consequences. The Dwemer constructed an elevator out of the subterranean depths to unite the two cities. Explore these depths and bear witness to a dark fate. The current Falmer inhabitants have tried to penetrate the Dwemer city but the still shambling mechanical guardians halt their progress…

How to clear: Eliminate the two bosses in the two final chambers of the dungeon.

Trinimac's Vigil
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: Trinimac is known among many sources as the “Warrior”, the “Paragon”, the “Golden Champion”, and even “Auriel’s greatest knight”. It is the spirit of Trinimac who presides and watches over the great fallen Ancient Falmer warriors buried in the hallowed halls of Trinimac’s Vigil. Many of these warriors died fighting Ysgramor’s denizens and protecting the Falmer homeland. Nestled amongst the waterfalls off Lake Geir, lies this sacred mortuary. Deep within the dungeon there’s a pocket of natural crystal caverns which hold strange glowing ores that may be of interest to plundering prospectors. However, the guardians of this tomb won’t easily part with the rare earths you find here.

How to clear: Eliminate the undead at the bottom of the final chamber.

Ancient's Avalanche
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: Long ago existed a Falmer city that was perched atop the Jerall Mountains said to have contained portals that connected to other far away Falmer sites of great majesty. After the fall of the Snow Elves, the city succumbed to the harsh mountain climate and collapsed, causing a massive avalanche down the mountain slopes. Far above the Nordic site of  ‘Ancient’s Ascent’ lies its snow elf twin, ‘Ancient’s Avalanche’. The collapsed city too has become home to a fearsome Dragon. The corpses of Falmer warriors litter the foot of the avalanche, preserved by the cold, still ready to rise again and fight as Wights! Not all is ruined in this place however. Up the slopes, embedded in the snow there is an archway bearing a strange glistening pattern…

How to clear:
 Eliminate the Dragon.

Chantry of Phynaster
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: High amongst the clouds at the summit of Bleak Falls Mountain is an Ancient Falmer place of holy significance. The Chantry of Phynaster is a temple dedicated to the hero-god of the Summerset Isles himself. Phynaster was said to have taught the Altmer to extend their lives a hundred more years, simply by shortening their stride. In the same spirit, the chantry can only be accessed via a portal, perhaps a physical representation on Phynaster’s teaching where it only takes but the shortest stride to reach the longest of distances. It is said that many members of Ancient Falmer royalty would make the shortest-stride pilgrimage to pay respects to this legendary hero-god.

How to clear: Eliminate the Boss inside the chantry.

Amethyst Flume
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: Down the slopes of the Jerall Mountains lies a marble protrusion that sticks out of the snow. Upon closer inspection of this protrusion, you will discover that it is actually the top of a skylight tube which conceals a long lost underground Ancient Falmer mining settlement. The main door to this place collapsed long ago, however, based on the repelling equipment and empty bottles of spirits you will discover that you are not the first to uncover this place. A band of nomadic Orc bandits who have decided to forsake the strongholds of birth and seek great treasures in the wilderness now lay claim to these once lost caves. The caverns below and brimming with amethyst deposits which Ancient Falmer gem cutters tapped into to forge paragons of great power. Water rushes and churns in these perilous depths and with no way out once you repel in the only way to exit is to ride the gushing subterranean surf in hopes of escape!

How to clear: Eliminate the 3 Orc Bandit Chiefs.

The Great Chantry Vault
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: Attached to the Chantry of Phynaster courtyard complex is a great hollow archway where a door should be. A marble pedestal with a glowing socket sits next to this archway and will only accept an amethyst paragon of flawless quality. If you can acquire one, a portal will be revealed which takes you into a great Ancient Falmer vault which is loaded with riches. A spectral guardian has been shambling through these halls for what seems like an eternity. However, not all inside the vault is as it seems… some vaults may contain untold dangers. The individual vault doors are magically sealed and can only be unlocked with Paragon Keystones, incredibly rare items that can only be found inside Ancient Falmer jewelry boxes and in the possession of Ancient Falmer members of Royalty and status. (There are a total of 5 vaults to open. 2-3 keystones are guaranteed drops however the other are 1% chance random loot from Ancient Falmer jewelry boxes so choose which vault you want to open wisely). Paragon Keystones are consumed upon use.

How to clear: N/A (see the Chantry of Phynaster above)

Boilwater Watch
Spoiler:
Show
Lore: Atop a cliff in Eastmarch there is a small excavation site which overlooks the bubbling hot springs run by the Thalmor of the Third Aldmeri Dominion. While Thalmor Agents gain influence across Skyrim through their Imperial allies, they seek to plunder Skyrim’s landscape in the pursuit of magical artifacts of great power. Ruins belonging to their Elven kin pique their insatiable interest and ambition. The Thalmor have set up shop in an old Ancient Falmer hut which now serves as a field research station while they pick apart these ruins.

How to clear: Eliminate the head Thalmor wizard.
