About this mod
Reworks Werewolf transformation to make use of Magicka, featuring an optional skill tree overhaul.

- Permissions and credits
Wolfblood is a simple Werewolf overhaul built with two primary goals in mind:
- To give Werewolves a unique dynamic in combat
- To make being a Werewolf feel meaningful, even when not transformed.
Most of Wolfblood's effects are achieved via the core plugin Wolfblood.esp, which makes several tweaks to Werewolves and werewolf-related mechanics.
Most importantly, the way that Werewolves, whether transformed or not, interact with Magicka is fundamentally altered. Magicka no longer regenerates passively, and instead drains slowly while not transformed, or rapidly while transformed. Magicka can be earned by successfully hitting opponents with Attacks, the exact amount scaling with Magicka regeneration buffs. Transforming requires a hefty amount of Magicka to activate, and running out of Magicka while transformed ends the transformation early, but suffers no cooldown period. The werewolf form is now a smaller burst of power, rather than a continuous change of gameplay.
Mages may struggle with this altered form of Magicka economy, and reject the form of the wolf, but half-mages who master both the sword and the spell may be able to make good use of it.
Additional edits to Werewolves and related content is described in the spoilers below.
Edits to Werewolves
Feeding off a corpse now also grants a large amount of magicka and a temporary magicka regeneration buff, negating the passive drain for a short moment.
The Perks
Wolfblood additionally contains an optional alternate perk tree containing several edits to the vanilla tree to better support Wolfblood's features. Details on the individual perks can be found in the spoiler below.
Bestial Strength
Do (50/100)% more damage as a werewolf.
Taken directly from Vanilla, but with half as many perks and twice as much effectiveness, letting you get to the more interesting perks more quickly.
Improved Howls
Improves the Effectiveness of unlockable Howls. [Requires Bestial Strength]
Combination of the Vanilla perks Totem of Ice Brothers, Totem of the Predator, and Totem of Terror.
Superior Howls
Improves the Effectiveness of unlockable Howls even further. [Requires Improved Howls]
Equivalent of the Vanilla perk Totem of the Moon, but with additional improvements the other Howls: The Howl of the Hunt now also provides a speed boost to the user, and the Howl of Terror applies an additional Armour Rating debuff to its targets.
Manbeast
Unlocks Howls while not transformed. [Requires Improved Howls]
Unlocks all three unlockable howls while in non-transformed form. Currently does not require you to have unlocked those howls in werewolf form.
Growing Rage
All attack damage done is increased by 0.1% per point of Magicka. [Requires Bestial Strength]
Provides an additional bonus to maintaining a high amount of Magicka, whether transformed or not.
Wolfmage
All schools of Magic are 20% stronger and gain xp 20% faster. [Requires Growing Rage]
Intended as an analogue to Vanilla's Necromage + Vampire combo, the Wolfmage perk rewards using magic despite the more limiting Magicka economy.
Feral
Movement Speed increased by 10%. Health and Stamina Regeneration increased by 25%. Effect is tripled while below half health. [Requires Growing Rage]
Thick Coat
Gain 50% Magic Resistance and 100 Armour Rating while Transformed. [Requires Bestial Strength]
Provides some better earlygame defensive abilities, particularly against mages.
Extended Transformation
Magicka Drain while Transformed reduced by 30% [Requires Thick Coat]
Gorging
Feeding heals twice as much health and grants rest buffs. [Requires Extended Transformation]
As per the Vanilla Equivalent, but with some extended utility to make up for the inability to get Rest Buffs as a werewolf normally.
Requirements
Wolfblood only requires one other mod, Scrambled Bugs. It makes use of two specific settings, which must both be enabled for full functionality.
Perk Entry Points: Cast Spells is REQUIRED to make the Magicka gain on hit effect work, and is enabled by default
Perk Entry Points: Apply Multiple Spells is not strictly required, but will make the Magicka gain on hit effect inconsistant if not enabled. This feature is known to break some perk overhauls without patches, and must be manually enabled
Installation
Simply install using the FOMOD installer. If installing during an existing game, if you are already a werewolf make sure to refresh the Beast Blood effect with the following console commands:
player.removeSpell 000F5BA0
player.addSpell 000F5BA0
Compatibility
Wolfblood is built with minimal blueprint in mind, and makes no edits to vanilla scripts. As such it should be compatible with most werewolf tweaks, including:
Wolfblood will conflict with most other werewolf overhauls without patches. Patches for Werewolf Perk Tree overhauls to work with Wolfblood's core should be relatively easy to make if desired, though no guarantees can be made about how well they'd work together.
Bugs and Balance
This is my largest mod to date, and has as of yet not undergone much testing. Bugs and balance issues are to be expected. If you encounter any, please report them so that I can fix them.
