Crowded Civil War is designed to enhance the atmosphere of Skyrim's civil war battles without making any cell edits, ensuring compatibility with mods that alter or add new locations. The NPCs are optimized for performance and do not have custom dialogue or complex schedules; they simply exist to bring more intensity and realism to the battle scenes.

Features
Dynamic Civil War Battles:
The mod dynamically generates a variety of NPCs to populate civil war battles, such as soldiers, officers, archers, and mages. These NPCs will engage in combat, follow basic orders, and participate in the chaos of battle, adding a new layer of immersion to Skyrim's civil war experience.
Customizable Battle Size: By default, the mod generates 30-50 additional NPCs in City battles and 10-20 in fort sieges. However, you can use the MCM to increase or decrease these numbers to suit your preferences or to maintain performance on lower-end systems.
Automatic Cleanup: NPCs generated by the mod will be removed when the battle ends to prevent save bloat and maintain game performance. You can adjust the cleanup timing in the MCM to have them removed sooner or kept around longer.
MCM Customization: The included MCM menu allows you to customize all features added by the mod, including NPC density, cleanup times, and more.

F.A.Q.

Q. What patch level is required?
A. None.
Q. Are Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn, or additional plugins like SKSE required?
A. SKSE and SkyUI are required if you wish to change settings via the MCM, but the mod will function without them. All settings can be adjusted through console commands, as documented in the readme file.
Q. Is this ESL-flagged?
A. Yes.
Q. What version of the Creation Kit was used?
A. 1.6.438.0. This mod is compatible with both Special Edition and Anniversary Edition.
Q. Aren't there similar mods already available?
A. Yes, but those typically require cell edits, which can lead to compatibility issues and don't address new locations added by other mods without patches. Unlike those, NPCs in Crowded Civil War are deleted when they are no longer needed, reducing the potential for save bloat and minimizing impact on performance.
Q. How does this mod affect performance or stability?
A. Crowded Civil War is designed to be lightweight. You may experience a slight performance dip when NPCs are spawned or removed, but this is brief and occurs only once per battle event. You can reduce spawn populations via the MCM to further mitigate any performance impact.
Q. Will this mod bloat my save file?
A. No, the NPCs are generated when a battle starts and deleted when it ends. This is managed internally like a random encounter.
Q. Some generated NPCs are not being removed immediately after battles.
A. If you are too close to an NPC or have line-of-sight, they won't be removed immediately to prevent immersion-breaking "pop-outs." The mod will recheck every few minutes and attempt to remove them when you are not looking.
Q. Do I need to start a new game to use this mod?
A. No.
Q. Can I modify or reuse parts of this mod?
A. You are free to modify or reuse parts of the mod with proper attribution.

Important

MCM Requirements: To use the MCM features, SKSE and SkyUI are required. However, the mod will still work without them.
Compatibility: This mod does not modify any base game records, so it should be compatible with most other mods in your load order.
