Blade of Sorrow

The Blade of Sorrow exists in two variations: a one-handed and a two-handed version, each reflecting the different stages of its tragic origin and the sorrow of its original owner, Gramir the Grieving.

The Blade’s Creation:
Both versions of the blade were forged by Gramir the Grieving, a Nord warrior whose family was killed by the Thalmor during the Great War. After their deaths, Gramir gathered scraps of metal from fallen weapons on the battlefield and forged them into a new sword—one that would carry the weight of his sorrow and his desire for vengeance. Each strike of his hammer was filled with grief, and the sword absorbed his anguish, becoming a symbol of his tragic quest.

  • The one-handed version, known as Tear of Vengeance, was crafted during the early days of Gramir’s journey. This smaller, faster blade allowed him to strike quickly and with precision, perfect for his hit-and-run attacks on Thalmor forces.

  • The Grip  is intricately carved, designed to fit securely in the hand, offering precision and speed in battle.

  • The Crossguard  is shaped like fractured wings, symbolizing the broken dreams and lost hope that weighed heavily on Gramir’s heart.

  • The Symbol on the Blade , engraved near the hilt, represents Gramir's first steps on the path of revenge, channeling his initial rage into every strike.

While it is light and easy to wield, the Tear of Vengeance carries the heavy emotional weight of Gramir’s sorrow. It is said that wielders of this blade often experience feelings of loss, as though they are reliving Gramir’s grief.

Two-Handed Version: The Sorrow of Gramir
The two-handed version, known as The Sorrow of Gramir, was forged later in his life, when his approach became more direct and forceful. No longer hiding in the shadows, Gramir began to confront his enemies head-on, and this heavier blade was perfect for delivering crushing blows.

  • The Extended Grip  allows for two-handed use, giving its wielder the power to unleash devastating strikes. The detailed craftsmanship reflects the precision with which Gramir honed his skills as both a warrior and a smith.

  • The Wider Crossguard  features jagged, wing-like shapes, symbolizing the deep sorrow and anger that grew within Gramir over time.

  • The Deeper Engraving on the Blade , a more pronounced version of the one on the smaller sword, represents Gramir’s deepened resolve and the overwhelming burden of grief he carried. The sword’s weight reflects the heavy sorrow that its wielder must bear.

  • The Sorrow of Gramir is known for its incredible power. Legend has it that the sword grows heavier in battle, not physically, but as though it absorbs the emotional toll of the wielder’s pain, making each swing feel like a release of pent-up sorrow and rage.

In addition to searching for swords in the dungeon you can create them in the forge. total swords 4 (2 two-handed and 2 one-handed) what are the differences? Both one-handed and two-handed there is an enchanted version.

  • The one-handed sword has the Frost Damage enchantment, reflecting the cold sorrow of Gramir.

  • The two-handed sword has Health Absorb, as if the sword drains the life force from its enemies, much like sorrow drains the spirit of the living.

In the dungeon you can find exactly the enchanted versions of both blades - Where exactly do I look for the blades?
The 2 dungeons where you can find them are Ironbind Barrow and Saarthallook for weapons in the chests!
