With my immersion blown, I went looking for the problem, and a fix.
The problem:
JonxOr's Wyrmstooth texture swaps it's recolored vanilla texture onto vanilla skeletons bone parts for the quest items. When using PraedythXVI's Skeleton Replacer HD, you get every skeleton model in the game swaped out with beautiful HP meshes. Since the meshes are so different, their feelings get hurt when you try and swap out their HQ textures. Off to the nexus for a patch!
I found Childofdragons's Wyrmstooth - Skeleton Replacer HD Patch - Volum Fix and Retexture, Perfect exactly what I need!! It includes an ESL flagged .esp to stop Wyrmstooth from using vanilla assets, new meshes from the skeleton replacer HD to use instead, and new textures applied to those bones. Great!! All Set!!
Once I found all the bones and returned them to their original owner, in spawns a Lich who thanks me for my effort, in the only way a Lich knows how......
The new problem:
While refusing his thanks, I noticed he looks nothing like the bones I collected..................well, I will be having none of that!!
Solution:
Replace Volum's mesh with PraedythXVI's lich mesh made for another mod, and have it use the new texture from Childofdragons's Patch.
So thats what I did, and here it is!
Inspired By PraedythXVI's staff of Worms, I changed out the Skull, and added a pulsating Necro Summon rune to Volum's Staff. It uses whatever texture you have for staff 4 (vanilla conjuration staff), but will be alot darker and shiny, from the newly added vertex coloring and enviromental maps.
I included a downsized and renamed texture for the Necro-Summons Rune which belongs to and was done by Kailithnir. It is from their expertly done mod Daedra-Tastic Rune Spells, the Apocalyse Patch. I have been using this mod for years, because of the clean lines, beautiful colors, resolutions to fit every system, and patches for most mods that have a Rune in it. That mod is not required due to Kailithnir's open permissions, but I highly recomend you use it anyway, so your large runes look as good as this tiny one!
Though I haven't played it yet,(if I did, I didn't know it) the Creation Club Necromantic Grimoire adds new Summoning spells to summon different types of skeletons to fight at your side for a little while. I don't know if it's the mods I'm running or they always get injected into the leveled list, but I have them.
In an atempt to make easier to tell what type you summoned and stand out from the hundreds of other summoned bonemen from other mods, they all wear different armor combos.
The Problem:
The way armor works in Skyrim, it doesn't go over the body it repaces the body. A skeleton's bones is it armor, so to add armor to it, it has to be added to its mesh on top of his original armor. So thats what was done, armor added on top of the "plane old vanilla" bones.
Solution:
Use the already created Skeleton Replacer HD Patches to asemble the right parts to replace the meshes for the CCNG summon meshes.(why hasn't anyone did this before)
