About this mod

Behaviour engine tool for patching Skyrim Nemesis/FNIS behaviour mods, with full creature support. Clean, responsive UI and error-tolerant, verbose patching. Supported on Windows/Linux/MacOS, open source and intended as an alternative to Nemesis.

Requirements
Permissions and credits

A modular and lightweight behavior engine for TES Skyrim SE, for creatures and humanoids. Built with backwards compatibility in mind for Nemesis Unlimited Behavior Engine and FNIS, Pandora Behaviour Engine+ is an alternative engine streamlines both the author and user experience through a simplified UI, robust logging, intuitive formats, and fast patching times.

Pandora runs on Windows, Linux, and MacOS*
*MacOS support is untested

Core:

  • Faster patching times on average (will depend on end user hardware specs).
  • Simpler usage.
  • Various startup arguments to customize output paths and operation.
  • Verbose and precise logging via the output "Engine.log"
  • Modular back-end design; capable of supporting multiple animation/behavior patching configurations.
  • Long-term support.

Quality of Life:

  • Searchbox for behaviour patches.
  • Select-all checkbox.
  • Grippers for drag and drop priority.
  • "-autoclose" startup argument (closes program after launch is finished).
  • "-autorun" startup argument (launches engine automatically on program start with the same cached mods from the last run).

Requires .NET 8.0+ Runtime

Disabling Nemesis after installing Pandora is optional; if you want the patches that come with Nemesis you can keep it enabled. However, the Nemesis output must still be disabled/deleted.

MO2:
1. Install Pandora Behaviour Engine as a mod* and make sure it is active.
2. Add Pandora as an [application for MO2](https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/Guide:Mod_Organizer#General_Application_Setup)
    * Having a dedicated output mod is recommended to keep the files that the tool generates in one place.
3. Run the program from within MO2, using the menu on the right.
4. Tick the patches you want and click Launch.

Vortex:
1. Install Pandora Behaviour Engine outside of the mods folder.
2. Add it to the tools dashboard.
2.a) It is highly recommended you set a custom output mod folder using `-o:` in the 'Command Line' field. Example:
-o:"D:\Games\Mod Manager\mods\Pandora Output"

2.b) Ensure that the 'Start In' field is set to the Skyrim data directory.
4. Run the program either manually or after adding it to the tools dashboard.
5. Tick the patches you want and click Launch.

IMPORTANT:
If you are a Linux user OR have multiple installs of Skyrim (including from Wabbajack) OR have the Skyrim SE registry path different from your modded Skyrim install for any reason, it's highly recommended to point Pandora to the managed game root folder.

Example:

-tesv:"D:\Steam Library\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition"

Example (for Wabbajack lists using proper stock game method):

-tesv:"C:\Games\Tinvaak\Game Root"

That way the engine knows where the game you want to patch with (important for FNIS mods). This goes for both MO2 and Vortex users. MO2 users can find the path they need by navigating to Tools > Settings and copying the folder path in the "Managed Game" option.

Pandora Behaviour Engine+ is a Work in Progress!
This Nexus page hosts the latest stable and extensively tested release. However, this does not guarantee that the engine is free of bugs or compatibility issues.

For the (latest bleeding edge) versions of the engine that may not be as stable or tested as the release on this page, go to the github page. Note that there's not always a version ahead of the release on Nexus.
