Recruit a party of multiple followers and/or animals, command them with your voice, and equip them in battle.

  • Recruit multiple followers and animals using the vanilla follower system: no added menus, custom dialogues, or anything out of place with the vanilla game.
  • You start with a limit of just 1 follower or animal. Perks in the Speechcraft tree will let you recruit a party of up to 4, which is well-balanced for the vanilla game at high difficulty settings or with challenging mods.
  • You can use the configuration menu to set a shared follower+animal limit of up to 7 for your party, or separate limits of 7 followers and 7 animals for up to 14 followers and animals, which is total overkill for the vanilla game but a lot of fun. The settings in the MCM will override the perks, so are a good alternative if you want to use this mod with a perk overhaul that touches the Speechcraft tree.
  • Through perks or by recruiting followers, you will learn shouted commands that can direct your whole party simultaneously to: wait, follow, and refrain from combat, letting you command your party flexibly and efficiently. Shouted commands will play a short voice line matching your character's gender and race.
  • You can now equip followers during combat by activating them, with a perk or configuration option.
  • The follower last spoken to will be the one recognized by vanilla quests, like recruitment for the Blades, following into quest areas like Japhet's Folly, etc.

Compatibility and Troubleshooting
  • Works on existing saves, but dismiss your follower and animal first.
  • Custom followers using totally separate systems like Inigo will likely be compatible. Mods like this will usually note if they use a separate system on their pages, and will not require you to dismiss vanilla followers when playing.
  • Most followers using the vanilla dialogue system and vanilla voice types will be compatible. You can tell if they are using the vanilla dialogue system when this mod is installed based on whether they respond to shouted commands, which will only apply to the follower quest aliases filled by the vanilla dialogue system.
  • Followers that use the vanilla system but that implement custom AI systems or edit parts of the vanilla follower system to support their features may require a patch.
  • Mods that edit the Speechcraft perk tree will require a patch if you want to use the perks, but you can use all the same features available through the perks with the MCM.
  • A patch is available here for my Disguise mod to integrate the perks they add to the Speechcraft tree.
  • Flagged as ESL

The mod suite
This mod was originally created as part of a large gameplay mechanics expansion mod that was designed to expand on under-used systems in Skyrim, bring back features from Morrowind and Oblivion, and implement features in a non-player-centric way to let NPCs use them. It's now standalone, but will play well with and have a similar design aesthetic as these mods that were also part of that suite:
