Then, I have just the mod you're looking for! It's this one. Yeah, the one you're looking at right now.
Nothing makes adventuring quite as much fun as having a beloved pet traveling along with you. Nothing, except maybe letting your pet join in on your holiday festivities wearing their very own Santa hat. After all, why should holiday joy and cheer be limited to only those with two legs or opposable thumbs?
We at Aubrie's Cats Wear Hats believe in holiday cheer equality.
We also understand that nothing sparks joy more than a happy cat wearing his or her very own Santa hat!
A little about the mod itself:
I'm a massive fan of DarkFox127's A Cat's Life mod. I downloaded it shortly after its release, and it's never left my load order.
I also stumbled upon the adorable Santa Hat by JohnSkyrim and started wishing my little cat, Noodles, could wear it.
Alas, a trip to the local Nexus hat market showed me there were no Noodle-sized holiday hats available.
So, what is a Crazy Cat Person to do in Skyrim if they wish to let their little furry friend look stylish this holiday season? I'm so glad you asked!
I beseeched the delightful JohnSkyrim for one of his hats and ran it through the wash a few times until it shrank enough to fit my wee little Noodles' noggin.
Then I realized it was horribly selfish to keep such delightful holiday cheer to myself, and after a little sprinkling of magic duplication dust...
Aubrie's Cats Wear Hats offers a joyfully cheerful Santa Hat here for anyone who wishes to allow their cat companion to dress snazzily this holiday season.
Now for the nitty-gritty details that I must set aside my fun to be serious about because they are very important:
First.
This mod requires both the below mods to work.
A Cat's Life by DarkFox127 and its requirements, if any. (because you can't put a cat in a Santa hat if you don't have a cat.)
Santa Hat by JohnSkyrim and its requirements, if any. (because you can't put a cat in a Santa hat if you don't have a hat.)
Second.
To get your beloved pet's hat in the game, it must be consoled in, or you can use something like Additem.
Speak to your cat to open its inventory and hand it your charmingly thoughtful gift that proves you are a caring and conscientious pet owner.
Then step back... and tell your cat how adorable they are.
That's it! Easy peasy, snowberry squeezy.
Third.
The hat takes up the circlet slot on the cat, which means a cat should be able to wear both a hat and a collar.
The mod is considered light and so will not take up an esp.
At this time, I have no plans to expand the hats to any other feline dispersal system mod, should one exist.
Fourth.
I want to extend a huge thank you to JohnSkyrim for being so charming and giving me permission to use all of his pieces, parts, and bits making up the adorable Santa Hat that inspired this cat-wearing-a-hat dream in the first place. Noodles also sends you his regards and his thanks, sir! ;-)
To the creator of the mod that has sparked endless joy in my pet-collecting little soul over the past three years... Darkfox127, thank you for your graciousness in allowing me to fit your adorable cats with tiny hats. I hope you know that your A Cat's Life mod has delighted the hearts of many. :-)
There is nothing more fun in my mind than traipsing through a dungeon filled with Draugr... with a pack of cheerfully grinning cats scampering along behind you! It makes me smile every time.
Hypothetically speaking, of course.
(Disclaimer: No actual cats were harmed in said traipsing through dungeons if it did indeed occur.)
And last, but by no means the least...
A thousand sweet rolls to my beloved Skyrim pet enthusiasts and big-brain modder friends, who, over the past year plus, graciously allowed me to pick their beautiful brains and more than once have taken the time to make tutorials explaining how to do mysterious and magical modding things. Not to mention, they have tolerated me obsessively lurking and watching them talk all things mod-ish while I cheered on their endeavors from the sidelines.
If it weren't for you, I never would've found the courage to try and make the thing you've had to listen to me whinge about wanting in the game for a year now.
So, I tip my pretty floral bonnet to you. xoxo
