The Problem
1.
Q: What spell mods do you use in your mod list?
A: Yes

2.
Did you ever want to create a mage who is focused around one specific spell pack?
Don't you feel like adding and removing spells from your mod list each time you want to focus on one spell pack?
Do you want to know which spells are from the same spell pack, so that you know which ones are designed to synergize with each other?
Wanted to do a Triumvirate based character this time, maybe focus on Arcanums more esoteric spells?
Did you head straight to Farengar just to encounter a huge list of spell tomes and have no clue which spells belong together?

Spell and Tome Prefixes by Mod to the rescue

The Salvation
Let's add immersive prefixes to Spells and Tomes.
  • Apocalyptic Ocato's Retical
  • Apocalyptic Spell Tome: Ocato's Retical
  • Druidic Release Animal
  • Hemomantic Spell Toms: Blood Mark
  • ...
With the release of Automatic Renamer I finally had the tools at hand to solve that issue once and for all.
  • No esp
  • No dependency on any of the spell mods
  • Completely future proof
  • No conflicts with any other mod out there
  • No way to break your game
  • Reasonable effort required to cover the vast majority of popular spell packs

Thanks to the conflict hree nature of Automatic Renamer and its relative ease of use I was able to cover a huge amount of spell mods.

Extra information:

Forgotten Magic Redone offers 2 options, either a global prefix for all spells, or a distinct prefix for each individual school. Choose 'ALL' or the others.
Triumvirate does NOT offer 2 options. I could not come up with a nice name, I did not like "Triumviratic". (Open for suggestions).
Kittytail - Frostbitten Dreams offers 2 options. Choose one.
Darenii spell packs only cover Natura. That is because many of Darenii's spell packs have a common prefix for all their spells.
Arcanum has 2 options, "Arcane" and "Arcanic". Choose one. "Arcanic" exists to avoid the same prefix as Darenii's "Arcane" spell pack.
Odin and Mysticism are NOT in the list. That is because they both extend and modify vanilla spells. The spells from those packs are meant to integrate into the default spell list of Skyrim. (Besides that, I had no proper idea what prefix to use for Odin. The spell pack is great but I hate that name)

Conflicts and duplicate names

Automatic Renamer does NOT take mods into account, so if multiple spell packs provide a spell with the same name, there will be a soft conflict.
There are a few rules to consider:
  • Automatic Renamer resolves its JSON files in alphabetical order. So if Ace Blood Magic and Hemomancy both had a spell called Hemoblood, both of those spells would resolve as "Bloody Hemoblood" ('Bloody' is the prefix assigned to Ace Blood Magic).
  • Only full names will be renamed. So you do NOT need to fear that the prefixes will appear somewhere in the middle of a spell name. This greatly reduces the potential for conflicts.

I am currently running my Skyrim with all of the above enabled and there are very few spells with duplicated names. I suggest to disable the following:
  • Phenderix Evolved (Use Phenderix Magic World instead. Same spells but each already come with a default prefix to prevent conflicts)
  • Colorful Magic

Because the above packs are so huge, they cause the most conflicts for me (it's just a hand full in the end). The other spell packs should not contain too many duplicate spell names.

Installation (IMPORTANT)
This mod does not come with a FOMOD. You need to manually delete or disable the files you do not want. This is a REQUIRED step after installing this mod, especially for mods that come with multiple options.

The reasoning behind this is easy:
  • ModOrganizer 2 offers an easy and quick way to hide files
  • Hidden files persist and you can toggle between options quickly without running a FOMOD again
  • Even if you hide/delete none of the files, hothing will break, you might just not get the prefixes you prefer
  • The files are just JSON files, no esp files. If you forget this step once, and start a save, it does not hurt at all

It is totally save to remove and add files from this mod at any time.

Extra & Customization
Since it was quite a pain to get a clean list of all the spells of the included spell packs, this mod contains an optional file that includes the plain spell lists for every mod involved.

Further, the optinal spell list contains a file called '00_Regex_For_NotepadPlusPlus.txt', which contains detailed instruction how to use Notepad++ and the included spell lists to create your own prefixes and suffixes, or how to quickly bulk rename the prefixes from my JSON files.

See the last picture in the image section. It shows how to use the rename function of Notepad++ to make the best out of the spell lists.

Permission
This mod is so simple that I can not hold any major copyright onto it. I release under the CC-BY-SA-NC license, so if you include the exact same files in your mod, you must credit me and share your mod under the same open license., and it may not be used for commercial purpose.
If for any reason you can not compy to the CC-By-SA license, you may contact me any time, I am open for collaboration and to give other credits.

If you upload a mod that is similar to this but adds other prefixes, I will NOT claym any copytights. That would be stupid, but some people might do that, so I give EXPLICIT PERMISSION to make your own derivate with custom prefixes, suffixes, no matter how similar to my mod they may be.
